MAKIN THE GRADE (K Gladwin) – Rider fumbled and dropped his whip at the 200m.
WAS AGONA (P Denton) – Bumped at the start.
OMINOUS WARNING (R Oakford) – Raced wide throughout.
EMJYE (B Huppatz) – Slow into stride and then bumped at the start.
Race 2: BM54 1200m
At the request of SKY channel the start time of this event was amended to 4.16pm.
Stewards interviewed dual licensee C Spry in regards to his riding instructions as his stable had two runners in this event.
STAN (C Spry) – When questioned regarding the performance rider advised that the gelding had sweated up profusely prior to the start and was reluctant to stretch out when resenting the kickback in the early stages of the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have returned with an elevated heart rate.
LINDWALL (K Gladwin) – Commenced awkwardly.
Race 3: 0-70 1100m
At the request of SKY channel the start time of this event was amended to 4.47pm.
HOOK ME UP (P Crich) – Commenced awkwardly.
IRON LOTUS (K Gladwin) – Commenced awkwardly.
Race 4: CL2 1100m
RESTLESS (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly and steadied from heels at the start.
LIBERTY TORCH (W Davis) – Broke through the barriers prior to the start and after being quickly restrained underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to compete.
JOKER POKER (P Crich) – Returned with blood in its mouth from a tongue laceration.
LUNAR JOY (S Wiseman) – Baulked at the inside running rail near the 800m and became unbalanced.
General – Jockey C Spry (DIVINE RED) was found guilty of a charge under AR137(b) in that he unnecessarily restrained his mount over the concluding stages and therefore failed to ride the gelding out to the end of the race and was fined the sum of $300.
Race 5: 0-58 1000M
WONGUR (R Oakford) became extremely fractious in the barriers and after undergoing a veterinary examination was found to be lame in the near fore. The gelding was declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 5.55pm.
Stewards ordered that all bets wagered on WONGUR be refunded and all successful bets placed prior to 5.55pm were subject to the following deductions –
TREGORIK 8c win 9c place
CAITLIN’S ANGEL 13c place
Trainer S Lawlor was advised that she must present a veterinary clearance for the gelding and it must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.
WAWRINKA (K Gladwin) – Raced wide throughout.
