Race 1: Dean Jones 1 Year Anniversary Handicap 0-64 - 1100m

UPSIDE declared a late scratching at 11:08am by order of the Stewards after the mare took charge of its rider and completed a circuit of the track at a gallop.

ALTAR BOY (S Tsaikos) – Began awkwardly bumping with another runner.

GOVERNOR (R Vigar) – Raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event.

HELL FIRE MISS (S Logan) – A post-race examination of the mare was conducted after it was noticed a small amount of blood coming from its off hind hoof. The injury was found to be minor and no treatment was required.

IL DON CAVALLO (D Gillett) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

RIVER FROST (L Maloney) – Slow into stride. Trainer G Connor was advised that a warning has been placed on the gelding for its unruly behaviour in the mounting yard prior to entering onto the track.

Race 2: Ladies Day 22 March Handicap SW 3YO & Up – 1000m

FORGETABOUTIT (S Tsaikos) – Commenced awkwardly.

SNEAKY FREDDY (D Gillett) – Raced wide throughout and bumped with another runner close to the finish

ICONIC MISSILE (S Logan) – Slow into stride.

SABIE FALLS (H Le Blanc) – Bumped with another runner close to the finish.

Race 3: Ladbrokes Blackbook Handicap 0-70 - 1400m

PERKOVA declared a late scratching at 12:16pm by order of the Stewards when observed to be unstable on its feet in the mounting yard. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed the mare to be showing signs of colic and was treated accordingly. A follow up with trainer P Gardner the following day revealed that the mare had responded well to further treatment and he was happy with its recovery. Trainer P Gardner was advised that he must produce a veterinary certificate of soundness prior to the mare again starting in a race.

VINNIE’S SPIRIT (D Gillett) – Began awkwardly and raced wide throughout the event.

BOOM BOOM SWEET (J Todd) – Began awkwardly.

Race 4: Ladbrokes Alice Springs Cup 6 April Handicap BM54 – 1600m

General: Stewards permitted L Maloney to ride NASTY STREAK after rider S Tsaikos became indisposed.

VITESSE BREEZE (J Todd) – Slow into stride.

TINTERN POWER (D Gillett) – Began awkwardly.

General: Apprentice D Gillett pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip 9 times prior to the 100m, 4 times more than permitted under the rule with a total use of 16 hits to the finish line. Apprentice Gillett had her licence to ride in races suspended for 1 Alice Springs meeting to commence midnight the 2nd February and to expire after midnight the 8th February 2025. When considering penalty, Stewards were mindful of her repeat offending of this rule and her last recent breach being of similar nature to this which resulted in a $1,000 fine. D Gillett was advised of her right of appeal.
