DESERT MIST (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly. When questioned regarding the performance rider advised that his mount resented the kickback and had a tendency to lay inwards and when he changed the whip to his left hand on straightening the gelding finished the race off well over the final 200m and in his opinion would take benefit from this first run on the surface. The veterinarian reported the gelding returned with an ulcerated left eye.
