Race 1: bet365 Handicap 0-58 – 1300m
During routine race morning stable inspections Trainer P Cole identified to the Stewards that RHESUS had swelling from some form of reaction on the near side of the neck underneath the mane. The race day veterinarian examined the gelding after arriving on course and was of the opinion that the swelling could potentially impact its performance and therefore the gelding was declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 2.10pm.
All bets placed on RHESUS were ordered to be refunded, and the following deductions were applicable to successful bets placed prior to 2.10pm.

Trainer P Cole was advised he must present a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to racing again.
STARSPANGLEDANCER (J Todd) – When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider explained that after leading comfortably his mount was off the bit when headed by another runner prior to straightening and failed to finish the race off as anticipated. Trainer G Clarke expressed his opinion that the mare has been best suited when able to lead through out. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
BRIMARVI ROOBOY (S Tsaikos) – Underwent a veterinary inspection upon arrival at the barriers and cleared to compete.

Race 2: Sportsbet Handicap 0-64 – 1200m
CHANGE IS COMING (J Todd) – Bounded at the start and then bumped heavily with another runner. Raced keenly and ungenerously in the back straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have returned with an ulcerated left eye.
ASTERN MAGIC (W D’Avila) – Raced wide throughout.
SOUL SPIRIT (W Davis) – Veered inwards and bumped heavily with another runner at the start.

Following this event, Jockey A Nicholls was treated by the Paramedics for dehydration. He was unable to fulfil his remaining riding engagements and the following replacements were approved:
Race 3 – DEMBE S Logan, Race 4 – SHAKATTAK S Tsaikos, Race 5 DEBATING – H Le Blanc
Jockey A Nicholls was advised he must present a medical clearance prior to his next race ride.

Stewards interviewed Trainer P Cole in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue as the stable had multiple runners in the event.
WORLD AFFAIRS – Declared a late scratching at 2.41pm by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame near hind). Trainer P Stennett must present a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to racing again.
BRAZEN BON (V Arnott) – Carried outwards by another runner passing the 600m and raced wide from thereon.
HOUSTON STAR (W D’Avila) – Lay outwards through the middle stages and rounding the home turn.
