General: As apprentice L Maloney failed to board his flight from Darwin to ride at today’s meeting, the following rider changes and scratching’s were approved:

Race 1 - C Spry to ride QUICK RETURN.

Race 2 - K Yuill to ride OMOPLATA.

Race 3 - LUNAR SOLAR scratched no rider available.

Race 4 - SHE’S TUFF ENUFF scratched no rider available.

Race 5 - TALES OF CONFLICT scratched no rider available.

Race 6 - VITESSE BREEZE scratched no rider available.

Stewards to inquire into the matter of L Maloney failing to fulfil his riding engagements today.

 

Race 1: Derby Day 2 November Handicap 0-58 - 1200m

BOY BIG (S Logan) – Slow into stride and tightened for room along the rails nearing the finish.

QUICK RETURN (C Spry) – Dipped on jumping and lay outwards rounding the home turn.

GET OUT MICK (K Yuill) – Commenced awkwardly.

MI MIJO (G Catania) – Slow into stride.

BODMIN BOY (J Philpot) – Lay inwards under pressure from the 200m.

Race 2: Maloney Kan Accountants Handicap 0-58 - 1200m

BOLD TROPIC (G Catania) – Rider accidently dropped both reins passing the 100m.

KIKUYU (P Denton) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner. Rider reported that the gelding was inclined to lay outwards in running. After a disappointing performance, a post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.

GINGER CREEK (A Sweeney) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner.

ALL FROSTED (J Philpot) – Raced wide throughout.

BOSS SHELBY (I Luximon) – Slow into stride losing ground early.

General: When questioned about the improved performance today of OMOPLATA, trainer L Whittle advised that the gelding had been in work for an extended period following a spell and has worked well leading up to today’s event and she was expecting a forward showing first up today.

Race 3: Lasseters Centre of Entertainment Handicap 0-70 - 1000m

GARRUCHA (S Logan) – Commenced to shift inwards shortly after jumping. Rider reminded of her obligations to ensure she is two lengths clear of other runners when allowing her mounts to shift ground.

DARCI DIVA (A Sweeney) – Commenced awkwardly.

HURN COURT (C Spry) – Bumped with another runner on jumping and steadied off heels shortly after.

UPSIDE (J Philpot) – Raced wide throughout.

TANGO STEPZ (G Catania) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

REVOLUTIONIST (K Yuill) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

SUPERIOR POWER (P Denton) – Commenced awkwardly.

Race 4: Ladbrokes Racing Club Handicap C2 – 1000m

LITTLE DITTY (C Spry) – Steadied inwards off heels approaching the 900m.

QUANAPIRRI BAY (G Catania) – Taken inwards by another runner approaching the 900m and being restrained.

FLORAL CODE (I Luximon) – Commenced to shift inwards shortly after jumping.

AUGUSTA MOON (P Denton) – Lay outwards under pressure from the 200m.

TAORMINA DUCHESS (S Logan) – Tightened for room approaching the 900m having to be checked losing considerable ground.

General: On inquiry, jockey I Luximon pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(a) for careless riding. The specifics of the charge being that when he rode FLORAL CODE in this event, he permitted his mount to shift inwards when insufficiently clear approaching the 900m resulting in QUANAPIRRI BAY (G Catania) being taken inwards and restrained which caused LITTLE DITTY (C Spry) to be steadied inwards onto TAORMINA DUCHESS (S Logan) which was tightened for room and checked by its rider.

I Luximon had his licence to ride in races suspended to commence midnight the 15th September and to expire midnight the 28th September (2 NT meetings). I Luximon was advised of his right of appeal.

BAROCCO BAR (S Logan) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

DIP ME LID (P Denton) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

FILTHY RICH (G Catania) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

CUBIC ZIRCONIA (J Philpot) – Raced wide throughout.

BOOGIE NIGHTS (I Luximon) – Bounded on jumping and steadied off heels shortly after when ridden forward.

NASTY STREAK (K Yuill) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner.

Stewards interviewed trainer K Petrick in relation to the riding instructions she intended to issue her riders bearing in mind she had multiple runners in this event.

BEAU FACTOR (I Luximon) – Bounded on jumping.

ALTAR BOY (S Logan) – Lay outwards rounding the home turn.

QUIZZLE (J Philpot) – Steadied in-between runners shortly after jumping.
