Race 1: Mikala Club Handicap BM76 - 1200m

Stewards interviewed trainer P Gardner in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue his riders bearing in mind he had multiple runners in this event.

RAIN’S GIFT (S Tsaikos) – Slow into stride. When questioned regarding the poor performance rider expressed the opinion that the gelding’s fitness level failed to handle stepping up to 1200m. Rider was reminded of his obligation to fully test his mount in the home straight as his level of vigour was insufficient in the circumstances of this event. As a post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities, trainer P Gardner was advised the gelding must compete satisfactorily in a barrier trial prior to racing again.

Race 2: Gallagher Insurance Brokers Handicap 0-64 - 1200m

ZELRING (L Maloney) – Commenced awkwardly and raced wide throughout. Commenced to lay inwards under pressure from the 100m.

BEAU FACTOR (S Logan) – Bumped with another runner on jumping and lay outwards rounding the home turn and again from the 150m.

DELAGO LAD (P Denton) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

NEVER OR NOW (G Catania) – Slow into stride having to steady off heels shortly after and raced wide throughout.

Race 3: ‘Are You OK’ Handicap 0-58 - 1200m

Stewards interviewed trainer L Whittle in relation to the riding instructions she intended to issue her riders bearing in mind she had multiple runners in this event.

BOY BIG (S Logan) – Commenced awkwardly hitting the right partition of the gate.

INCIVILITY (C Tootell) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

VANDERLAND (H Le Blanc) – Bounded on jumping bumping with another runner. Commenced to shift outwards under pressure from the 150m.

CUBIC ZIRCONIA (J Philpot) – Raced wide throughout.

ONEOFTHESENIGHTS (G Catania) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner.

TAORMINA DUCHESS (L Maloney) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner.

TALENT QUEST (H Le Blanc) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner.

General: On inquiry, S Tsaikos was found guilty of a charge under AR131(b) which reads:

A rider must not in the opinion of the Stewards, fail to ride his or her horse out to the end of the race and/or approaching the end of the race.

The specifics of the charge being that when S Tsaikos rode FAMILY TIES in this event, he did fail to ride his mount out over the concluding stages and in the opinion of the Stewards, his actions have cost him securing first place being beaten a short half head.

S Tsaikos had his licence to ride in races suspended from midnight the 8th September and to expire midnight 21st September (3 NT meetings). S Tsaikos was advised of his right of appeal.

 

Race 5: Ladbrokes Fast Track Your Form Maiden Plate SW - 1400m

Stewards interviewed trainer P Gardner in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue his riders bearing in mind he had multiple runners in this event.

BODMIN BOY (J Philpot) – Stood flat-footed losing some ground.

BRUT STAR (S Tsaikos) – Stood flat-footed losing some ground and commenced to race wide from the 1200m.

DEPENDENCY (G Catania) – Tightened between runners on jumping and raced wide throughout.

TORTELLINI (C Tootell) – Steadied off heels into the first turn when racing forward. Held up for clear running from the 300m to the 150m.
