General from Race 5: FRM Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Handicap (1000m) conducted at the Darwin Turf Club Saturday 13 July, 2024

On Tuesday 23 July, 2024 TRNT Stewards concluded an inquiry into the reason for jockey T Doyle being dislodged from APLOMADO near the 650m. Stewards interviewed jockeys T Doyle, S Tsaikos (REVOLUTIONIST) and M Pegus (EGYPTIAN TYCOON). It was established that approaching the first turn APLOMADO raced ungenerously and lay inwards resulting in REVOLUTIONIST being crowded and steadied near the 700m. Jockey T Doyle had difficulty in correcting his mount and when attempting to straighten the mare, APLOMADO shifted out and blundered after clipping the near hind heel of EGYPTIAN TYCOON near the 650m and dislodged T Doyle. Trainer C Baxter advised that she had applied an off side bubble cheeker to the mare for the race in an attempt to improve its racing manner.

Stewards were satisfied that no rider was at fault in this incident and in the circumstances, trainer C Baxter was informed that APLOMADO must barrier trial satisfactorily prior to racing again. Trainer subsequently advised that the mare will now be retired.

General from Race 3: Sitzler Weight-For-Age (1200m) conducted at the Darwin Turf Club Saturday 20 July, 2024
