Race 1: BTC Constructions Handicap 0-70 – 1600m

A BIG CHANCE (T Doyle) – Raced wide on straightening.

1ST ZIGGI ROCKS 2ND A BIG CHANCE 3RD NEW ENTERPRISE

 

Race 2: Brittain Racing Handicap 0-58 – 1200m

CAPISTAN (A Sweeney) – Dwelt at the start and lost several lengths. Trainer G Clarke advised a warning will be placed on the gelding. When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that whilst he was in a rearward position in running, when a run was presented on the inside rail in the home straight that his mount failed to respond to his riding and did not let down as anticipated and in his opinion raced in a flat manner. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had an elevated heart rate and was coughing. The stable subsequently advised that the gelding had recovered well in the days following the event.

MUTANY (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly, bumped and then knuckled. Raced wide throughout.

KIKUYU (E Lines) – Raced keenly into the first turn and lay outwards through the middle stages and wide on straightening.

LATEST BENTLEY (T Doyle) – Bumped at the start.

TRAVANTI (I Luximon) – Momentarily held up for clear running passing the 500m.

Race 3: ROANT New Horse Scales Handicap 0-58 – 1200m

CALL IT A LOAN (C Hunter) – Bumped at the start.

WHITTEN (E Lines) – Steadied from heels near the 800m. Raced strongly and improved quickly inside the heels of another runner near the 450m and had to be checked from heels.

MOTIVATED MISS (V Arnott) – Commenced awkwardly.

TO THE POINT (S Tsaikos) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

LAMOREE (S Logan) – Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

THE GIRL’S BOY (I Luximon) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped heavily with another runner. Slow to muster early speed.

I’M A DREAMER (J Hampson) – Bumped on the hindquarters at the start. Crowded between runners and restrained passing the 800m. Raced wide on straightening.

JIPSIE (P Denton) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped shortly after the start. Raced keenly approaching the 800m and bumped another runner.

General – On inquiry it was established that approaching the 800m JIPSIE (P Denton) commenced to race keenly and when being steadied shifted inwards bumping the hindquarter of EXTREME EMOTION (J Todd) which became unbalanced and shifted out again contacting with JIPSIE. As a result of this contact JIPSIE shifted out causing I’M A DREAMER (J Hampson) to be restrained when crowded onto TO THE POINT (S Tsaikos). EXTREME EMOTION raced ungenerously for some distance after this incident and WHITTEN (E Lines), which was following, had to steady from heels.

At a further inquiry, it was established that near the 450m WHITTEN (E Lines) when racing strongly improved inside the heels of the tiring JIPSIE and had to be checked from heels.

Race 4: Darwin Family Law Handicap 0-66 – 1200m

SHAKATTAK (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly. Failed to muster early speed. Raced wide throughout.

POMPEII EMPIRE (M Pegus) – Bounded at the start and then carried inwards abruptly shortly after.

ZOUMIST (A Sweeney) – Tightened for room and restrained near the 200m.

SOUL SPIRIT (I Luximon) – Commenced awkwardly and veered inwards abruptly unbalancing the rider.

SHECANMIXIT (J Hampson) – Raced wide throughout.

General – On inquiry jockey S Tsaikos (HALLOWED GROUND) was found guilty of a charge under AR131(a) of engaging in careless riding. The specifics being that leaving the 200m, whilst riding his mount along he permitted the gelding to shift inwards when insufficiently clear resulting in ZOUMIST (A Sweeney) being tightened for room and restrained. S Tsaikos was suspended from riding in races for 1 NT meeting to expire after 6 July, 2024 and was in addition fined the sum of $500.

Race 5: On Fire Racing Handicap 0-62 – 1100m

DUMMY SPIT (S Tsaikos) – Had a tendency to lay inwards when tested with the whip inside the final 200m and on two occasions, the rider had to stop and straighten the gelding.

BRIMARVI ROOBOY (J Todd) – Raced wide throughout.

CYCLONITE (M Pegus) – Bumped at the start.

HELLIVIT (P Denton) – Bumped at the start.

BEFANA (V Arnott) – Slow into stride.

PRECONI (T Doyle) – Raced wide from the 600m.

POLARISING (S Logan) – Bumped at the start.

WILD BEAU (A Sweeney) – Knuckled at the start.

TYQUENDO (J Hampson) – Raced wide throughout.

Race 6: JSM Civils Handicap 0-76 – 1000m

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue as the stable had multiple runners in the event.

THROW AT DA STUMPS (P Denton) – Commenced awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

MATHEMATICS (I Luximon) – Slow into stride.

POP MAGIC (S Tsaikos) – Lay out rounding the first turn.

Race 7: Top End Structures Maiden SW – 1300m

GO BARNEY GO (T Doyle) – Lay inwards when tested with the whip in the straight.

NICODEMUS (S Tsaikos) – Raced wide throughout.

RANK’N’FILE (C Hunter) – Shifted inwards shortly after the start and blundered after clipping heels.

General – The gates on barrier 4 were marginally slow to open in this race. The starter checked the barriers prior to loading runners for the final race.

Race 8: TAB ROANT Gold Cup – 1300m

DESERT LASS (C Hunter) - Became cast in the barriers and after being safely extricated by the barrier staff, the mare was declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 5.21pm. All bets were ordered to be refunded, with the following deductions applicable to all successful bets placed prior to 5.21pm.

VENTING (P Denton) – Commenced awkwardly. Raced wide on straightening.

HE’S THE ULTIMATE (J Hampson) – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

HAMLET VON SNITZEL (T Doyle) – Bumped with another runner on multiple occasions leading up to the 1200m. Raced wide from the 800m.

TANAAWOL (S Tsaikos) – Tightened for room and dipped after clipping heels near the 600m.

DIAMONDS’N’STONES (I Luximon) – Bumped with another runner on multiple occasions leading up to the 1200m.

General – On inquiry jockey I Luximon (DIAMONDS’N’STONES) pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(a) of engaging in careless riding. The specifics being that approaching the 600m he permitted his mount to shift inwards when insufficiently clear resulting in TANAAWOL (S Tsaikos) being tightened for room and dipped after contacting heels. I Luximon was suspended from riding in races for 1 NT meeting to expire after 6 July, 2024.
