Race 1: bet365 Handicap 0-64 – 1300m

NEW ENTERPRISE (V Arnott) – Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

IKNOWHATYOUREDOING (I Luximon) – Commenced awkward and lost ground. Carried inwards, crowded and steadied near the 100m. Cast the near hind plate in running.

General – On inquiry jockey A Sweeney (GLOBAL WONDER) pleaded guilty to a charge of engaging in careless riding under AR131(a). The specifics were that whilst riding his mount along passing the 100m he permitted the gelding to shift inwards when not clear resulting in IKNOWHATYOUREDOING (I Luximon) being carried inwards, crowded and steadied. Jockey A Sweeney was suspended from riding in races until midnight 1 June, 2024 (1 NT meeting).

Jockey I Luximon was reprimanded under AR232(i) for the standard of his evidence during this inquiry.

Race 2: Darwin Cup Carnival On Sale Handicap – 1300m

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue as the stable had multiple runners in the event.

HAZELWOOD (C Hunter) – Slow into stride and to muster early speed.

1ST WOLFBURN 2ND SIAKAM 3RD INFLUENTIAL JACK

 

Race 3: TAB We’re On Handicap C2 – 1200m

CANADA BAY (S Logan) – Bumped at the start.

KIEFFER (I Luximon) – On a recommendation from the farrier, Stewards permitted the gelding to compete without hind plates. Raced ungenerously in the back straight when resenting the kickback.

AWEN (E Lines) – Raced wide throughout.

VELVET REVOLUTION (C Hunter) – Difficult to load. Bumped at the start.

KIRAKAT (A Sweeney) – Commenced awkwardly. Failed to muster early speed. Tightened for room and checked near the 800m.

General – On inquiry it was established that KIEFFER (I Luximon) raced ungenerously in the back straight when resenting the kickback and the gelding shifted inwards abruptly near the 800m resulting in KIRAKAT (A Sweeney) being tightened for room and checked. Stewards were satisfied that jockey I Luximon had attempted to straighten his mount in this incident and no further action was taken.

1ST KIEFFER 2ND MOTIVATED MISS 3RD MAGNETIC TYCOON

 

Race 4: Sky Racing 3YO Handicap BMNT – 1100m

MIAMI VICE (E Lines) – Bumped at the start.

FRANKFURT (I Luximon) – Commenced awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

IBEGOOD (J Hampson) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped heavily at the start.

ANGELIQUE (S Logan) – Slow into stride. Rider reported she was hindered when attempting to improve through the middle stages when positioned inside the riderless horse.

TILUSSION (C Hunter) – Fractious prior to the start. Bounded as the gates opened, unbalancing and dislodging the rider. Trainer C Baxter was advised that the filly must barrier trial satisfactorily prior to racing again.

General – Jockey C Hunter was examined by the Paramedics. Whilst she had no specific injuries she did have general soreness and therefore did not fulfil her engagement in the final event.

1ST MIAMI VICE 2ND IBEGOOD 3RD FRANKFURT

 

Race 5: DTC Best Marketed Club 2024 Handicap 0-58 – 1600m

Stewards interviewed trainer C Pollard in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue as the stable had multiple runners in the event.

GO BUNDLE was declared a late scratching at 4.59pm as no replacement rider was available. All bets placed on the gelding were ordered to be refunded and the following deductions were applicable to successful bets placed prior to 4.59pm.

1st - 4c win, 5c place

2nd 6c place

RISING FIRE (V Arnott) – Bumped at the start.

SUPREMO (E Lines) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.
