General: Apprentice D Gillett was questioned by Stewards in relation to her ride on the favourite PROTOSTAR which was unplaced in this event. Stewards were of the view that D Gillett had got on the geldings mouth as the gates opened causing it to be slow into stride and shortly after, she elected to shift her mount outwards to race very wide for the remainder of the event. D Gillett acknowledged that she did get on her mounts mouth as the gates opened but could offer no satisfactory explanation as to why she raced that wide after drawing barrier 3 of 10. D Gillett further advised that she is working on her technique in leaving the barriers cleanly without getting on her mounts mouths. Stewards advised D Gillett that she is an experienced apprentice with almost two years of race riding both here and interstate, and would expect her to be riding in a more competitive manner. D Gillett was placed on notice that she must ensure she gives her mounts all reasonable and permissible chances in a race to obtain the best possible place in the field and not to leave her riding open for question.
