Stewards considered a protest lodged by apprentice E Lines rider of the third placed HE’S MAVERICK against the second placed BEYOND READY ridden by apprentice I Luximon alleging interference inside the 200m. It was established that BEYOND READY lay inwards in the straight and when being corrected shifted outwards abruptly and impeded the running of HE’S MAVERICK near the 100m. Stewards were not satisfied that the interference warranted a reversal of the placings, and the protest was dismissed.
BEYOND READY (I Luximon) – Lay inwards from the top of the straight with the rider having to stop riding and straighten the gelding on multiple occasions.
DON’T BE DRAMATIC (P Denton) – Slow into stride. When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that when the pace quickened at the 600m the gelding failed to respond to his urgings and in his opinion may not have been suited to the rain-affected track. Trainer D Morgan agreed with this assessment and advised the gelding will now have a spell.
HE’S MAVERICK (E Lines) – Momentarily impeded near the 100m.
