Race 1: Australia Day Racing on 26th January Handicap C2– 1300m

STRETFORD END (S Tsaikos) – Raced wide throughout. Bumped heavily by another runner and unbalanced on straightening.

GOLD IS LUMING (A Sweeney) – Shifted out slightly on straightening and bumped heavily with another runner becoming unbalanced.

NEW YORK SPIRIT (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly. When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that his mount was off the bit in running and yielded ground from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

SUMPREMO (E Lines) – Bumped by another runner near the 250m.

Race 2: Shayne Kavanagh Memorial Handicap 0-64– 1300m

Stewards interviewed trainer K Petrick in relation to the riding instructions she intended to issue as the stable had multiple runners in the event.

GLOBAL WONDER (J Todd) – Fractious in the barriers and commenced awkwardly losing ground. Rider advised that after missing the start his mount was off the bit in running and in his opinion did not appreciate the wet track conditions.

ANKLE ROLEX (M Kennedy) – Raced wide throughout.

CORYCEPS MIRICLE (E Lines) – Fractious in the barriers and commenced awkwardly.

TO THE POINT (P Shiers) – Cast the off-hind plate in running.

ZOUTELLUS (P Crich) – Cast the off-hind plate in running.

1ST ANKLE ROLEX 2ND MAGNOLIA ROSE 3RD NEW ENTERPRISE

 

Race 3: Ladbroke It! TROBIS Handicap 0-58– 1200m

Trainer P Cole provided Stewards with the riding instructions he intended to issue as the stable had multiple runners in the event.

COLOUR DE ROY (A Nicholls) – Fractious prior to the start and commenced awkwardly. Taken outwards rounding the first turn and raced wide from thereon.

GIVE HIM WINGS (P Shiers) – Commenced to buck shortly after the start and was eased down by the rider and retired from the event. Trainer T Halter was advised that the gelding must barrier trail satisfactorily prior to racing again.

TURNSTAR (I Luximon) – Raced wide throughout.

I’M A DREAMER (J Hampson) – Raced wide throughout.

QUEEN OF THE NORTH (S Logan) – Mistrode passing the 450m and rider reported her saddle shifted as a result. Returned having shifted the near hind plate.

Race 4: Ladbrokes Summer Sprint Series (Heat 2) Handicap 0-70– 1200m

Trainer P Cole provided Stewards with the riding instructions he intended to issue as the stable had multiple runners in the event.

VOLATORE (S Logan) – Impeded for clear running between the 250m and the 200m.

COMMAND KING (A Sweeney) – Slow into stride.

ENVENOMATE (P Shiers) – Held up for clear running from the 600m until taken outwards near the 400m.

BAT PAD (A Nicholls) – Rider reported that he was struck in the face by a dirt clod near the 450m and he was unable to balance up on his mount until leaving the 300m. He received treatment after the race from the Paramedics to a swollen eye.

BEL’S BANNER (J Todd) – Raced wide from the 600m.

NEW ROMAN (P Denton) – Raced wide throughout.

MERSEYSIDE (P Crich) – Raced wide throughout.

BULLINACHINASHOP (J Hampson) – Cantankerous in the saddling enclosure prior to the event. The veterinarian reported the mare returned from the race with blood in the mouth from a tongue laceration.

1ST VOLATORE 2ND EL MAGNIFICENCE 3RD VUNIVALU

 

Race 5: Silks Darwin Wet Season Series (Heat 6) Handicap BM54– 1000m

As jockey A Nicholls could not make the allotted weight he was replaced as the rider of CHIEF MONDO by I Luximon.

HEADLINE STORY (J Hampson) – Fractious prior to the start and slow into stride. Tightened for room and checked near the 650m.

SHECANMIXIT (E Lines) – Cast the off fore plate in running. Both hind bandages worked loose in the straight and the near hind bandage unravelled over the concluding stages. The bandages were examined and as trainer C Baxter had applied them in accordance with the regulations, the Stewards were satisfied that in the circumstances, the incident was most likely the result of the wet track conditions and therefore no further action was taken.

BIG FEELINGS (A Sweeney) – Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.

GOTTA BEAT (M Kennedy) – Slow into stride.

SOLID ROCK (S Tsaikos) – Crowded near the 650m and shifted inwards and away from another runner.

General – On inquiry it was established that near the 650m VASCATTO (P Denton) shifted in slightly and crowded SOLID ROCK (S Tsaikos) which shifted in and away from that runner resulting in HEADLINE STORY (J Hampson) being tightened for room and checked. Stewards were satisfied that no rider had ridden in a careless manner and no further action was taken.

Post-race swab samples taken from all winners. Pre-race samples were taken from STRETFORD END, MAGNOLIA ROSE, CORDYCEPS MIRACLE, GIVE HIM WINGS, DIAMONDS’ N ’STONES & HEADLINE STORY

Trainer P Johnston was reprimanded for comments he made on social media on 10/1/24 that were in breach of TRNT policy – AR233.
