Race 3: Great Northern TROBIS Plate – 1100m

Prior to correct weight being given, the rider of the 4th placegetter J Hampson requested to view the Stewards’ patrol footage from the 200m with a view to protesting.

After viewing the footage, J Hampson (ENUFF RED) lodged a protest against the winner (WHITTEN) ridden by E Lines alleging interference approaching the 100m.

Evidence was taken from E Lines in the presence of trainer in care C Pollard and further evidence was taken from J Hampson in the presence of the trainer of ENUFF RED, Chloe Baxter.

After considering the evidence, the protest was dismissed.

In arriving at this decision, Stewards were of the view that there was a slight shift inwards from WHITTEN and simultaneously from FULL DAMAGE on WHITTEN’S outside resulting in ENUFF RED, which was already racing tight for room along the rail, having to take hold.

Subsequently, Stewards inquired into the interference and took further evidence from J Hampson in the presence of P Shiers, E Lines in the presence of S Logan and also evidence from A Nicholls (FULL DAMAGE). Whilst acknowledging that J Hampson did have to take hold as per the details above in the protest, Stewards were of the opinion that no one rider rode in a careless manner and took no further action other than to remind riders that when their mounts are shifting ground no matter the degree, they must stop and straighten.

ENUFF RED (J Hampson) – Had to take hold at the 100m when crowded for room.
