Race 1: BTC Constructions TROBIS 0-58 Handicap – 1300m

Stewards interviewed trainer P Cole in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue as the stable had multiple runners in the event.

WILSONS PROM (A Nicholls) – Bumped at the start.

CAPISTAN (J Todd) – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

LORD FENRIR (S Logan) – Steadied when racing keenly passing the 700m and the 650m.

NOKONDI (I Luximon) – Raced wide from the 600m.

KIRAKAT (V Arnott) – Slow into stride. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

MALIBU EDITION (A Sweeney) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

Race 2: BTC Constructions Sprint Handicap – 1300m

STRATEGIC PHIL (A Sweeney) – Bumped at the start.

VALLARBAR (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

SURREAL IMAGE (E Lines) – Crowded for room and restrained losing ground near the 700m.

General – On inquiry jockey S Logan (CITY REGAL) pleaded guilty to a charge of engaging in careless riding under AR131(a) with the specifics being that near the 700m she permitted her mount to shift inwards when insufficiently clear resulting in SURREAL IMAGE (E Lines) being crowded for room and restrained. Jockey S Logan had her license to ride in races suspended for 1 NT meeting. An appeal against this decision has been lodged and a stay of proceedings granted pending the outcome of the appeal.

1ST CITY REGAL 2ND VALLABAR 3RD STRATEGIC PHIL

 

Race 3: Australian Turf Club Maiden Plate – 1200m

Due to the Paramedics attending to a patron, the start time of this race was rescheduled to 3.31pm.

BEATIFICATION (S Logan) – Carried outwards from the 600m and crowded near the 450m.

KING’S STAR (P Shiers) – Restrained near the 600m and again at the 450m.

MEANT FOR MARS (S Tsaikos) – Carried inwards, crowded, and bumped shortly after the start.

PALENTINO ROSSI (V Arnott) – Commenced awkwardly.

BARTY AYA (E Lines) – Cantankerous in the preliminary necessitating the removal of the tongue tie. After proceeding to the barriers without further incident the mare raced without that gear. Commenced awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

DAUNTING DECISION (J Todd) – When questioned rider advised that his mount, when leading, commenced to lay out from the 600m and when another runner improved on his outside, the mare veered outwards abruptly near the 450m and had to be checked. As a result, a number of other runners suffered interference to varying degrees. Trainer G Clarke was advised the mare must compete satisfactorily in a barrier trial prior to racing again.

GELATA (I Luximon) – Restrained from heels near the 450m.

GONE FAR (A Sweeney) – Commenced awkwardly.

NO RAIN NO FLOWERS (C Hunter) – Raced wide throughout.

VETIVER (J Hampson) – Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start.

Race 4: Book Your Christmas Party C2 Handicap – 1100m

The start time of the race rescheduled to 4.15pm.

APLOMADO (C Hunter) – Raced wide throughout. Lay inwards on straightening.

STARS THE LIMIT (A Nicholls) – Rider permitted to ride 1.5kg overweight as no other jockey was available to make the allotted weight. Raced wide throughout.

PRINCIPAL BELLE (S Tsaikos) – Commenced awkwardly losing ground.

Race 5: Chris Williams Jewellers 0-70 Handicap – 1100m

The start time of the race rescheduled to 4.55pm.

EL MAGNIFICENCE (E Lines) – Raced wide throughout.

NIEWAND (V Arnott) – Trainer J Manning advised that the gelding had bled from both nostrils. As this was the second occasion, the gelding is now ineligible to race again in accordance with AR79.

RISING SPHERE (J Todd) – Bumped shortly after the start.

BEL’S BANNER (A Nicholls) – Tightened for room and checked near the 500m.

FROMTHENEVERNEVER (S Logan) – Raced wide throughout.

JUST STROLLING (M Pegus) – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to the off hock.

RAFFALLI (J Hampson) – Crowded and bumped at the start.

SPEILBERG (A Sweeney) – Knuckled at the start, unbalancing the rider. He sustained a knock to his right cheekbone in this incident. Rider was subsequently examined by the Paramedics and cleared to ride in the final event.

General – On inquiry jockey M Pegus (JUST STROLLING) pleaded guilty to a charge of engaging in careless riding under AR131(a) with the specifics being that near 500m he permitted his mount to shift inwards when insufficiently clear resulting in BEL’S BANNER (A Nicholls) being tightened for room and checked. Jockey M Pegus had his license to ride in races suspended for 2 NT race meetings to expire after 18 November, 2023 and in addition was fined the sum of $300.

Race 6: Silks Laser Clinics 0-64 Handicap – 1600m

The start time of the race rescheduled to 5.30pm.

Stewards interviewed trainers C Pollard, P Cole and G Clarke in relation to the riding instructions they intended to issue as each stable had multiple runners in the event.

REBEL COUNTY (P Shiers) – Due to being lame in the near fore the gelding was declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 3.53pm. Trainer C Pollard was advised that he will require a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to racing again.

CHARRETERA (A Sweeney) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

AMERICAN JAZZ (J Todd) – Bumped and carried outwards at the start.

ZOURISKY (A Nicholls) – Raced keenly into the first turn and was obliged to race wide in running and was under pressure prior to straightening.

BENEVOLENT (I Luximon) – Raced wide into the first turn and after being steadied to obtain cover the mare got its head up and failed to settle until leaving the 1100m.

TROPICALIA (V Arnott) – Slow into stride. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Due to the uncompetitive performance the gelding is required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again. Trainer P Cole advised the gelding will be retired.

FIELD COMMANDER (S Tsaikos) – Bumped shortly after the start.
