Race 1: HAIR AT THE MEMO MAIDEN PLATE SET WEIGHTS 1200m
MIDNIGHT HUSTLE declared a late scratching at 1:43pm by order of the Stewards after it refused to go up the 1200m chute to the barriers, causing a delay to the start.
As no book maker was in attendance, no deductions were applicable.
Trainer R Taylor was advised that the gelding will need to barrier trial prior to again starting in a race.
DANNY WHIZZBANG (M Pegus) – Bumped with another runner at the 300m.
QUICK RETURN (W Davis) – Commenced to shift outwards under pressure from the 200m.
VEGA PRINCE (S Tsaikos) – Commenced awkwardly.
JEN’S REWARD (D Gillett) – Bounded on jumping. Steadied between runners approaching the 600m. Bumped with another runner at the 300m.
SHEPLIMENTS (A Lindsay) – Commenced awkwardly and raced wide throughout.
THE BISHOP (D Morgan) – Bounded on jumping.
General: Stewards questioned apprentice D Gillett (JEN’S REWARD) in the presence of jockey riding Coach Darryn Murphy, and M Pegus (DANNY WHIZZBANG) in relation to some minor tightening of JEN’S REWARD at about the 600m and the 300m. Whilst the incidents resulted in runners bumping, there was no interference caused to a runner. It was established that apprentice Gillett had allowed her mount to race up into restricted room to obtain a more forward position causing her mount to be tightened and or bump. D Gillett was cautioned by Stewards that riding in such a manner would inevitably result in serious inference to herself and other runners and also had the potential to cause a fall. D Gillett was further advised that she must ride in a manner that is not open to question when attempting to take runs in-between runners.

General: Stewards questioned D Morgan (FAIR GO) in regards to his riding instructions after allowing the gelding to stride in the middle stages gaining a substantial lead over the field.
