Race 1: Silk Laser Clinics BMNT Handicap – 1100m

SHIRSHOV (J Todd) – unsettled in the barriers and then became cast. Following a lengthy delay, the gelding was safely released from the barriers and declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 2.22pm. The veterinarian reported the gelding sustained superficial head abrasions. Trainer G Clarke was advised the gelding must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.

All bets placed on the gelding were ordered to be refunded and the following deductions were applicable to successful bets placed prior to 2.22pm.

1st - 32c win, 25c place

IDEAS MAN (M Pegus) – Shifted outwards under pressure in the straight.

NIEWAND (V Arnott) – Bumped at the start. Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate and also coughed after the event.

RISING SPHERE (P Shiers) – Bumped at the start. When questioned rider advised that his mount resented the kickback and as a result mistrode passing the 650m.

STAR MAGNUM (E Lines) – Commenced awkwardly.

Race 2: TRNT Off The Track 0-66 Handicap – 1100m

PLAGUE STONE (A Sweeney) – Raced wide throughout. Cast the off hind plate in running.

KOMACHI (M Pegus) – Slow into stride. Resented the kickback in the early and middle stages.

REAL VALENTIA (D Gillett) – Bumped at the start.

KENT STREET (A Nicholls) – Bounded and then bumped at the start.

BRAZENPINE (E Lines) – The veterinarian reported that the mare had blood in the right nostril as the result of a laceration.

PATRIOTIC KING (G Clarke) – Raced ungenerously rounding the first turn.

Race 3: TOYOTA Finance 0-62 Handicap – 1300m

BEACHHAVEN (P Shiers) – Stood flat footed at the start and lost considerable ground. As the gelding has offended in a similar manner previously, trainer T Halter was advised that the gelding must again barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.

DELAGO LAD (C Hunter) – Shifted inwards under pressure over the final 50m.

EQUAL BALANCE (I Luximon) – Raced wide from the 600m.

I’M A DREAMER (J Todd) – Raced keenly in the back straight.

KIRAKAT (V Arnott) – Slow into stride.

SCOUT’S HONOUR (D Gillett) – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages and as a result steadied passing the 1000m and again near the 800m. Crowded for room leaving the 75m and eased over the concluding stages.

General: On inquiry jockey C Hunter (DELAGO LAD) was reprimanded under AR131(a) for engaging in careless riding for allowing her mount to shift inwards under pressure placing SCOUT’S HONOUR (D Gillett) in restricted room leaving the 75m with the gelding being eased over the concluding stages.

Race 4: Fusion Exhibitions Rosebowl Fillies & Mares 0-70 Handicap – 1300m

DESIGN ARTIST (A Kennedy) – Raced in restricted room leaving the 900m and restrained near the 800m.

ORNAMENTAL LADY (D Gillett) – Steadied outwards passing the 650m.

SWING WITH JUNIOR (C Hunter) – Crowded for room and steadied near the 800m.

SOUL SPIRIT (W Davis) – Carried inwards near the 800m.

ZIP LANE (S Wiseman) – Underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was cleared to compete. Crowded shortly after the start.

LUCKY FORTUNA (A Nicholls) – Raced wide throughout.

AFTERNOON TEA (E Lines) – Momentarily steadied before carried inwards near the 800m.

ZOURISKY (A Lindsay) – Crowded inwards near the 800m.

General: On inquiry jockey M Pegus (BULLINACHINASHOP) pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(a) for engaging in careless riding. The specifics being that near the 800m he permitted his mount to shift inwards when insufficiently clear resulting in varying degrees of interference to AFTERNOON TEA, ZOURISKY, SOUL SPIRIT, SWING WITH JUNIOR and contributing to DESIGN ARTIST (A Kennedy) being restrained. Jockey M Pegus had his license to ride in races suspended for 1 NT (Feature) meeting and was in addition fined the sum of $300. In accordance with Local Rule NT16 the period of suspension will take effect after 22 July and expire after 29 July,2023.

Race 5: Chris Williams Jewellers C2 Handicap – 1600m

SIR TOOP (V Arnott) – Inclined to lay outwards rounding the first turn. Raced wide from the 650m.

SUPREMO (W Davis) – Fractious prior to the start.

OLIVER BULLET (D Gillett) – Bumped at the start. Steadied passing the 1200m.

FISCHER (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly losing ground.

NEW ENTERPRISE (A Lindsay) – Raced wide in the early and middle stages and yielded ground from the 600m.

FLASH FIORENTE (P Denton) – Bumped at the start.

Race 6: Bridge Toyota Cup 0-76 – 1600m

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue as the stable had multiple runners in the event.

KAONIC (A Sweeney) – Bumped at the start. Raced wide on straightening. Lay inwards under pressure leaving the 100m.

COMMAND KING (S Tsaikos) – Checked off heels near the 600m.

HE’S THE ULTIMATE (P Shiers) – Bumped at the start. Steadied and lost momentum near the 600n.

BAT PAD (S Wiseman) – Raced wide in the early and middle stages and yielded ground from the 500m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare had the thumps. Trainer M Nyhan subsequently advised that the mare had recovered well following the event.

IRONEDGE (A Lindsay) – Raced wide from the 600m.

TAIPAN TOMMY (I Luximon) – Bumped at the start.

General: It was established that near the 600m COMMAND KING (S Tsiakos) had to be checked off heels when HE’S THE ULTIMATE (P Shiers) had to be steadied and lost momentum when held up behind the heels of TAIPAN TOMMY (I Luximon).
