Apprentice E Lines was reprimanded for a breach of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip in excess of 5 occasions prior to the 100m when she rode the winner TUBTHUMPER. In determining this penalty, Stewards took into account the totality of the whip use and that this was the first occasion that apprentice E Lines had breached the rule.

SWEET CHEVAL (C Hunter) – Commenced awkwardly.

General – Stewards inquired in the reason for BAT PAD (A Nicholls) receiving interference leaving the 500m. It was established that BAT PAD had a tendency to lay outwards from the 600m and near the 500m was crowded for room and steadied when HALGARD (P Shiers) shifted in slightly when tested with the whip. As Stewards were satisfied that jockey P Shiers attempted to straighten his mount in this incident and given the racing manner of BAT PAD, no further action was taken.
