General – Due to the forecast of inclement weather conditions, Stewards amended the following race start times: Race 6 – 4.32pm, Race 7 - 5.07pm, Race 8 - 5.35pm
Race 1: Australian Turf Club C2 Handicap – 1300m
YOWZA (J Martin) was declared a late scratching at 1.26pm by order of the Stewards after refusing to load into the barriers.
The following deductions were applicable to all successful bets placed prior to 1.26pm.
1st - 27c win & 27c place, 2nd - 26c place, 3rd - 20c place
Trainer T Halter’s representative was advised that the gelding must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.
REAL REASON (D Gillett) – Bounded at the start. Slow to muster early speed.

Race 2: Hygain C2 Handicap – 1300m
Due to a storm, the start time of this race was put back to 2.09pm.
FOXGOSSIP (S Tsaikos) – was declared a late scratching at 2.11pm by order of the Stewards after becoming cast in the barriers.
The following deductions were applicable to all successful bets placed prior to 2.11pm.
1st - 8c win & 8c place, 2nd - 10c place, 3rd - 14c place
Trainer C Pollard was advised that the gelding must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.
FLYING DEPUTY (C Eaton) – Bumped at the start and raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate and to be lame in the near fore. Trainer D Leech will be required to present a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to racing again.
POINTO’S PICK (D Gillett) – Slow into stride and then bumped another runner.
EXGAMES (B Wong) – Slow into stride.

Race 4: Start at Silks BMNT Handicap – 1100m
MINI BOOM (W Davis) was declared a late scratching at 2.24pm by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice after the mare was found to be slightly lame in the near hind leg after being transported to the course. No deductions were applicable.
SPIELBERG (V Arnott) was declared a late scratching at 3.21pm by order of the Stewards after dislodging the rider after leaving the mounting enclosure and galloping for an extended distance. Rider suffered no injuries and was examined by the Paramedics prior to riding in the next event.
The following deductions were applicable to all successful bets placed prior to 3.21pm.
1st - 4c win & 4c place, 2nd - 6c place, 3rd - 4c place
I AM THE FOX (D Gillett) – Reared at the start and then bounded losing considerable ground.
POUPEE (N Day) – The veterinarian reported the mare returned with lacerated hind bumpers.
OVERRULED (C Eaton) – Returned having bled from both nostrils. As this was the first occasion, trainer C Pollard was advised of the provisions of AR79.
SWING WITH JUNIOR (J Martin) – Rider permitted to ride 2.5kg overweight as no other rider was available to make the allotted weight.

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue as the stable had multiple runners in the event.

MANLY COVE (S Tsaikos) – Bumped at the start.
NOBLE WAR (D Gillett) – Shifted ground outwards rounding the home turn.
VIRTUOUS MISS (N Day) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.
THUNDER PEAK (P Denton) – Bumped at the start.

Race 6: Bridge Toyota 0-58 Div 1 Handicap – 1000m
There was a delay following the race to allow jockey S Tsaikos to view the patrols films of the home straight to consider an objection. No protest was lodged and correct weight was declared.
ALL STARDOM (S Tsaikos) – Raced in restricted room passing the 50m.
WAR GAMES (C Eaton) – Shifted inwards under pressure inside the final 75m.
SODBUSTER (W Davis) – Bounded at the start, unbalancing the rider and lost several lengths. Raced wide throughout.

Race 7: Off The Track 0-58 Div 2 Handicap – 1000m
LOCKDOWN SALLY (D Gillett) – Commenced awkwardly getting its head up. Raced wide from 700m.

Race 8: Happy New Year 0-64 Handicap - 1600m
General – As jockey J Martin had accepted a ride and was unable to make the allotted weight he was replaced as the rider of SKELLIG ISLAND by W Davis. Stewards accepted his explanation and no further action was taken.
