General: All runners engaged in races 8 and 9 were subject to veterinary examination during

track-work Friday morning 29/4 and no issues were identified.

 

Race 1 SKY RACING HANDICAP 1200 METERS:

STARLITE VALLEY (S Fawke) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

SUPER FAMOUS (C Hunter) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

MANHATTAN MAN (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly and dipped.

ROJO BOOM (S Wiseman) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

OMOPLATA (W Kerford) – Raced wide throughout.

SAIKEN (J Philpot) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

THIRSTY (I Luximon) – Lay outwards rounding the home turn having to steady off heels.

Race 2 GALLAGHER INSURANCE HANDICAP 1100 METERS:

Stewards interviewed trainer L Whittle in regards to the riding instructions she intended to issue her riders bearing in mind she had multiple runners.

MIGHTY MURT (P Denton) – Knuckled on jumping.

MILES POWER (J Philpot) – Raced wide throughout.

MATHEMATICS (S Fawke) – Slow into stride bumping with another runner. Momentarily tightened for room between runners at the 600m.

NEW ROMAN (C Hunter) – Fractious in the barriers. Rider reported that the gelding resented the kickback in running.

SIGNOR FANGIO (S Wiseman) – Shifted outwards at the 600m.

LIKE A HEARTBEAT (S Tsaikos) – Raced wide throughout.

ASAHI BEARING (J Todd) – Commenced to shift outwards under pressure from the top of the straight.

Race 3 POVEY STIRK HANDICAP 1000 METERS:

HARPUNA (P Denton) – Raced wide throughout.

WE WILL REMEMBER (J Todd) – Bumped with another runner on jumping and raced wide throughout.

WHITE KAPS (J Philpot) – Slow into stride.

FAITH AND LOVE (W Davis) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner. Shifted ground outwards down the straight when tested with the whip.

LIBERTY BLUE (W Kerford) – Bumped with another runner on jumping and shifted outwards under pressure over the final 100m. Cast near hind plate in running.

SUPERIOR POWER (S Wiseman) – Commenced a little awkwardly.

ZIPADEE (S Fawke) – Bumped with another runner on jumping and raced wide throughout.

POLICY (A Collett) – Fractious in the barriers and as start was effected, reared losing considerable ground.

Race 4 ALICE SPRINGS BREWING CO HANDICAP 2000 METERS:

PINZU (W Davis) – Inclined to over-race in the early stages.

JET JACKSON (S Wiseman) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

ZELRING (L Crow) – Raced ungenerously into the first turn when resenting the kickback.

JUST HANG UP (I Luximon) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

Race 5 SCOPE BUIDLING NT HANDICAP 1600 METERS:

WELL KNOWN (M Heagney) – Raced fiercely into the first turn getting its head up and causing its rider to take hold off heels. Taken inwards by another runner at the 50m.

FLOREAT PICA (W Davis) – Jumped inwards on jumping bumping with another runner and began to yield ground from the 700m.

DOON BUGGY (L Crow) – Raced wide throughout.

HALOGEM (I Luximon) – Slow into stride. Shifted in abruptly at the 50m momentarily unbalancing its rider.

TREDICI (J Philpot) – Bumped with another runner on jumping and had to steady off heels into the first turn.

COMOGLI (C Hunter) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

1ST WICKED ADDICTION 2ND HALOGEM 3RD WELL KNOWN

 

Race 6 COLEMANS PRINTING HANDICAP 1400 METERS:

WAYANKA (I Luximon) – Jumped inwards as the gates opened bumping with another runner and impeded for room. Raced wide throughout.

STAROUZ (S Fawke) – Commenced to shift outwards under pressure over the concluding stages.

BOLT I AM (C Hunter) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner on several occasions becoming unbalanced. Commenced to race wide from the 500m.

LANCER (M Heagney) – Jumped outwards as the gates opened bumping with another runner.

1ST STAROUZ 2ND EXONERATE 3RD MELLORS

 

Race 7 HYGAIN CURCULAIN PRO HANDICAP 1200 METERS:

Stewards interviewed trainer P Cole in regards to the riding instructions he intended to issue his riders bearing in mind he had multiple runners.

DEFACTOR declared a late scratching at 4:25pm by order of the Stewards after refusing to load.

YOWZA was backed out of the barriers for a veterinary examination after rearing and getting both front legs over the top of the barriers. Was passed fit to start but then refused to load and subsequently declared a late scratching at 4:30pm by order of the Stewards.

SEDONA became fractious in the barriers due to the lengthy delay and after undergoing a veterinary examination, was declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice at 4:32pm

Trainers S Whittle (YOWZA) and J Gleeson (DEFACTOR) were advised that prior to their horses again starting in a race, they must trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

All monies wagered on DEFACTOR, YOWZA and SEDONA were ordered to be refunded and the following deductions were applicable to successful bets placed prior to 4:25pm.

Due to the delay in starting this race, start times for races 8 and 9 were rescheduled to commence at 5:00 and 5:30 respectively.

SMUGGLING (J Maskiell) – Commenced awkwardly unbalancing its rider.

DEVILS TEMPTATION (Z Spain) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner.

Race 9 LADBROKES ALICE SPRINGS CUP 2000 METERS:

LORD BOUZERON (NZ) (B McDougall) – After a disappointing performance, a veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.

VALLEY PRINCE (A Collett) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner.

MASARU WARRIOR (C Hunter) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

Post-race samples were taken from all winners. Swabs were also taken from 2nd and 3rd placegetters in races 8 and 9.

Pre-race samples were taken from: DISTANT LOVER, SUPER FAMOUS, TREDICI, YOUNG DOURO, and all runners in races 8 and 9.

All riders were breath tested for the detection of alcohol.
