TRYSTOFF (J Philpot) – Slow into stride and failed to muster early speed. When questioned regarding her tactics in the early stages, rider advised that her instructions were to ride the gelding in a rearward position. She therefore elected to use limited vigour in the early stages and did not push the gelding along until leaving the 1000m resulting in her mount racing further back than anticipated. Rider acknowledged that she had erred by riding too conservatively in the early stages and should have ridden with more initiative in the circumstances. Given the manner in which the gelding subsequently finished the race off, Stewards took no further action other than to remind the rider of her obligations to ensure she rides in a manner that does not leave her tactics open to question.
