COWLEY’S CREEK (V Arnott) – Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind. Trainer N Irwin was advised that a veterinary clearance is required for the gelding prior to racing again.
GHETTO (W Davis) – Raced keenly through the middle stages.

SMARTKAP (V Arnott) – trainer N Irwin requested to withdraw the mare due to the track surface being firmer than she had anticipated given the course proper had been rolled after track work. In the circumstances, Stewards acceded to this request and the mare was declared a late scratching at 4.17pm.
DON’T WAIT (J Hampson) – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout.
OVERRULED (A Nicholls) – Rider reported his mount felt awkward in its action rounding the first turn. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore. Trainer E Steel was advised that a veterinary clearance is required for the gelding prior to racing again.
BROTHER BASSY (T Townsend) – Bounded at the start.
LITTLE TOWN BLUES (W Davis) – Veered outwards at the start and bumped shortly after.

CAPTAIN HEDDERWICK (J Todd) – Slow into stride.
NASHWAH (T Townsend) – Apprentice reported that her mount lay outwards rounding the 1200m and 650m turns and yielded ground prior to straightening. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have an elevated heart rate. Trainer P Cole subsequently advised that as the mare had recovered without incident he undertook not to start the mare a in race for a period of 2 weeks and would engage the services of a senior rider in future.
