Apprentice L Crow subsequently pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) with the specifics being that approaching the 900m she did allow her mount to shift ground outwards when insufficiently clear resulting in THE HUMMELL being tightened for room having to be restrained, losing ground. General: Stewards opened an inquiry into OLIVARES losing some ground after being tightened along the rails at the 600m. Evidence was taken from W Kerford (EXONERATE) and S Tsaikos (OLIVARES). W Kerford advised that his mount was laying in throughout the race and more so heading into the 600m turn. S Tsaikos advised that whilst he was tight for room, his mount had over-reacted once he began to steady the gelding. After considering the evidence, Stewards were satisfied that no one rider had ridden in a careless manner and took no further action.
Stewards also inquired into BARKLEY losing ground at the 550m. Evidence was taken from J Todd (BARKLEY) and apprentice D Morgan (CATCHTHERAINBOW). It was established that BARKLEY which was racing forward, raced up onto the heels of CATCHTHERAINBOW which was beginning to yield ground.
