General – Following this event Stewards inquired into a report from apprentice I Luximon (KOA) that his mount had commenced from the incorrect barrier. It was confirmed that KOA jumped from barrier position 10 instead of the allotted barrier 2. Stewards further established that all runners positioned in barriers 2 through to 9 had been loaded inwards one position from the allocated barrier draw. Stewards considered the provisions of AR198 as it relates to horses starting from an incorrect barrier. KOA was subsequently declared a non-runner and announced a late withdrawal for the purpose of betting deductions. In the opinion of the Stewards, no other runner had been materially affected in the circumstances, and therefore the official order of placings was confirmed and correct weight declared.

It was established that this incident resulted from human error in the recording of barrier positions and led to a level of confusion during the loading process. TRNT Stewards will review the process that led to this error and will implement further procedures to assist in ensuring this does not occur again.
