Race 1: C2 1300m

REAL REASON (S Wiseman) – Commenced awkwardly.

THE ALBION (A Nicholls) – Rider permitted to weigh out 0.5kg overweight as no other rider was available to make the allotted weight.

LIONEL (J Todd) – Race wide in the early and middle stages and yielded ground in the straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg. A veterinary clearance will be required for the gelding prior to racing again.

ANDAMAN (W Davis) – Raced keenly for some distance leaving the 1000m.

AGAINST THE TIDE (A Nicholls) – Acting under the provisions of AR204(1)(c) Stewards declared the gelding a non-starter after it was established that as the start was effected the gelding had part of its head in the adjoining barrier stall and was denied the opportunity to commence with the field. All bets placed on AGAINST THE TIDE were ordered to be refunded and the following deductions were applicable to successful bets placed prior to 4.32pm:

JET JACKSON - 24c win 17c place KAPTAN APOLLO – 27c place

OSIRIS (B Huppatz) – Lay outwards under pressure in the straight.

JET JACKSON (S Wiseman) – Bumped at the start.

DREAM DREAMER (P Denton) – Bumped at the start.

HATTAN MAN (S Tsiakos) was declared a late scratching at 2.24pm on veterinary advice after the gelding sustained abrasions to the off hind leg in a mishap in the race day stalls.

WILD ROVER (A Nicholls) – Slow to muster early speed and raced wide throughout. Rider reported his mount was reluctant to stretch out in running. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have abrasions to the near hind pastern and off side knee.

MAXAWAY (W Davis) – Lay inwards in the run to the first turn and in the home straight.

NORTHERN FACTOR (P Denton) – Bounded at the start.
