Race 1 Imparja Television Handicap 1200 metres
EIGHTEEN BOMBERS (K Gladwin) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner.
ROYCEY (W Kerford) – Commenced a little awkwardly.
CADMAN (D Morgan) – Tightened for room between runners on jumping. Shifted in under pressure behind a runner at the 200m having to be steadied off heels before being taken outwards for clear running.
CHIMA (L Crow) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
DANCING POETESS (F Bergstrand) – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Steadied
off heels at the 750m.
COPERNICUS (B Sweeney) – Commenced awkwardly losing ground.
Race 2: 8HA/SUN969 Handicap 1200 metres
Stewards interviewed trainer L Whittle in relation to the riding instructions she intended to issue bearing in mind she had multiple runners in this event.
DANOXIE (P Denton) – Slow into stride.
MISS MOSH (B Sweeney) – Slow into stride.
ERADICATOR (C Spry) – Commenced awkwardly shifting outwards.
SHINING MANE (W Kerford) – Commenced awkwardly.
CUSHIONS (D Morgan) – Inclined to shift inwards under pressure from the 200m.
OHTHEGIRLCANGO (F Bergstrand) – Commenced awkwardly.
MITOCHONDRIA (C Johnson) – Raced wide throughout.
General - Following the event Stewards ascertained that MITOCHONDRIA (C Johnson) and LET’S DREAM BIG (L Crow) which were drawn alongside each other in barriers (9) and (8) respectively, were in fact loaded into gates and 8 and 9 and consequently started from these incorrect barrier positions. As both horses finished in 6th and 7th position respectively, Stewards acting under the provisions of AR128(2) made no variation to the official order of placings. Subsequently jockey C Johnson and apprentice L Crow were each fined $300 for negligence.
Race 3: Darwin Horse Floats Plate 1000 metres
Stewards interview trainer L Gillett in relation to the riding instructions she intended to issue bearing in mind she had multiple runners in this event.
OL’BLUE EYES (K Gladwin) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
LISA (F Bergstrand) – Knuckled on jumping and raced wide throughout. After knuckling badly at the start, a veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
RAZOR BEER (S Tsaikos) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
MAMA JAY JAY (D Morgan) – Slow into stride. Lay outwards rounding the home turn.
Race 4: Royal Flying Doctor Handicap 1600 metres
PERESSINI (P Denton) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
DOON BUGGY (D Morgan) – Raced wide throughout.
SNOWTROOPER (L Crow) – Inclined to over-race in the early stages of the event.
HALOGEM (K Gladwin) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
BEL SIR (W Kerford) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner.
General - Correct weight for this event was delayed after the rider of the second placegetter (S Tsaikos) requested to view the patrol footage down the straight. After viewing the footage correct weight was declared.
Race 5: Ladbrokes Odds Boost Exotics Plate 1400 metres
ALKIRION (B Sweeney) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
BARKLEY (W Kerford) – Bounded out of the barriers.
ELLISON (K Gladwin) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner.
ENEMY OF THE STATE (P Denton) – Dipped shortly after jumping.
TAN TAT BLAZE (C Spry) – Ridden hard early to secure a forward position.
KILLA MOOVZ (D Morgan) – Slow into stride bumping with another runner.
KUMMERLINGS (L Crow) – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Yielded ground from the 500m. After a poor performance, a veterinary examination revealed the mare had pulled up with cardiac arrhythmia. A second veterinary examination shortly after revealed the mares recovery to have returned to normal. Trainer W Savage was of the opinion that the mare did not compete over this distance as he anticipated. Stewards advised W Savage to report any abnormalities over the coming days.
MARYMOUNT LASS (S Tsaikos) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
WHITE LIONESS (F Bergstrand) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
General: Stewards interviewed trainer N Dyer in relation to race day duties performed by his stable hand Scott Dyer at the Darwin race meeting held on Saturday 1st September. Scott Dyer was found to have performed duties on that day which were outside the conditions of his licence. Stewards were satisfied with the explanation given by N Dyer and took no further action.
Post-race samples were taken from all winners.
Pre-race samples taken from ALKIRION, RALPH, DANCING POETESS, THAT’S JUSTIFIED, MISS MOSH and HALOGEM.
