SMUGGLING (P Shiers) – Bumped heavily at the start and then steadied shortly after. When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that his mount had lost momentum as a result of the incidents at the start and then had difficultly mustering early speed under the heavy weight impost. He added that gelding did work into the race from the 600m and made up moderate ground in the home straight.

FORT KNOX (J Noske) – Trainer G Clarke advised that whilst the gelding had led and won at it’s previous start over 1600m, he intended to instruct the rider to position the gelding off the pace in today’s race given the decrease in distance and the manner in which it had won when ridden back in the field over a similar distance on 24 July, 2021. This information was disseminated. Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

IT’S PINS (C Hunter) – Commenced awkwardly.
DANCERS KIN (J Noske) – Refused to commence with field. As the gelding had offended in a previous manner on 5 February, 2021 trainer C Pollard was advised that the gelding would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards on two (2) occasions prior to racing again.
