Race 1: Benchmark 76 Handicap – 1300m
MONTASER (A Lindsay) underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers at the request of the rider and following being diagnosed as lame in the near hind leg was declared a late scratching at 1.40pm. Trainer N Dyer was advised that he must present a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to racing again.
The following deductions were applicable: 1st - 2c win & 4c place, 2nd - 4c place, 3rd - 4c place.
ASH GREY (S Tsaikos) – When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that his mount was off the bit through the middle stages and was disappointing in failing to finish the race off as anticipated. Trainer T Gillett advised the gelding had an interrupted training schedule leading up to the event as the Alice Springs track has been closed for renovation and he had only arrived in Darwin earlier in the week. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
LORD SMEDLEY (J Lyon) – Commenced awkwardly.

Race 2: 3YOLD Benchmark 66 Handicap - 1300m
Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue as his stable had multiple runners in the event.
VALLEY PRINCE (D Stanley) – Lay inwards when racing wide into the first turn and was under pressure prior to straightening. When questioned regarding the unplaced performance trainer T Gillett advised the gelding was racing for the first time on the track and had an interrupted training schedule leading up to the event as the Alice Springs track has been closed for renovation and he had only arrived in Darwin earlier in the week. He was of the opinion the gelding would benefit from the run having not raced for 7 weeks.
JUSTWINS (P Shiers) – Commenced awkwardly and crowded shortly after the start.
SKELLIG ISLAND (K Gladwin) – Raced wide from the 600m.
GRAND FINAL (S Miller) – Veered outwards at the start.
OREGON TRIAL (W Davis) – Raced greenly in the early and middle stages and wide on straightening.
1ST TRIDENT 2ND SANBLAS 3RD SIAKAM
Race 3: Class 2 Handicap - 1200m
Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to the riding instruction he intended to issue as his stable had multiple runners in the event.
The start of this race was delayed approximately 4 minutes due to multiple vet checks behind the barriers.
CRAZY LAD (P Shiers) – Raced ungenerously after being crossed by another runner at the 1000m and resented the kickback in the back straight. Tightened for room and restrained when still racing ungenerously passing the 700m.
GLOBAL WONDER (J Todd) – Raced wide throughout.
SECONDA (W Davis) – Bumped inwards at the 700m.
SUPREME TIMES (D Stanley) – Bumped heavily at the start.
CUBAN MINT (V Arnott) – Underwent a veterinary examination after being fractious in the barriers and was cleared to compete.
TRAVANTI (S Tsaikos) – Raced wide throughout.
LA TRIOLI (A Lindsay) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped. When laying inwards shifted ground and bumped another runner passing the 700m.
POLICY (C Hunter) - Underwent a veterinary examination after being fractious in the barriers and was cleared to compete.
DANCER’S KIN (B Huppatz) – Dwelt at the start and lost several lengths.
1ST SYNCLINE 2ND GLOBAL WONDER 3RD SUPREME TIMES
Race 4: 0-58 Handicap - 1100m
ACTIVE (A Lindsay) was cantankerous in the saddling enclosure and after refusing to proceed to the barriers was subsequently declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 3.23pm. Trainer T Halter was advised that the gelding must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again with an emphasis on the pre trial behaviour.
The following deductions were applicable: 1st - 2c win & 3c place, 2nd - 3c place, 3rd - 3c place.

INTIMIDATING (K Gladwin) – Bumped at the start.

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to the riding instruction he intended to issue as his stable had multiple runners in the event.
SKALDAK (P Shiers) – Reared at the start and lost considerable ground. Rider struck his head on the top of the barriers in this incident and was disadvantaged in the early stages of the race whilst readjusting his goggles.
MY TRADITION (B Huppatz) – Cast the off fore plate in running.
COUNT OF ESSEX (A Lindsay) – Impeded between runners when making ground near the 75m.
RIKIBOBBY (S Miller) – Raced wide from 700m.
LADY RIZ (D Stanley) – Raced wide early and middle stages.

ANDAMAN (W Davis) – Veered outwards at the start. Yielded ground from the 700m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate.
NASHWAH (V Arnott) – The veterinarian advised the filly returned with blood in the right nostril which was the result of an internal laceration.
LEAKED (S Miller) – Carried outwards and bumped at the start.
AHMAH STAR (S Wiseman) – Commenced awkwardly.
