General – On inquiry jockey R Vigar was found guilty of engaging in improper conduct under the provisions of AR228(b). The specifics were that he did knowingly weigh out to ride WHITWORTH without a girth for the purpose of making the allotted weight of 56kg which included a 0.5kg overweight allowance. He then deliberately include a girth in a colours bag which was handed over to a stable representative to use when saddling the gelding to cover the fact that he did weigh without that piece of gear. When issuing the charge it was taken into account that the Stewards had detected this conduct prior to WHITWORTH being saddled and therefore R Vigar was required to reweigh. He was permitted to ride 1kg overweight as no other jockey could ride at the allotted weight. R Vigar had his license to ride in races suspended for 1 NT meeting to expire after 4 January, 2020 and in addition was fined the sum of $1000.
