SACAMBAYA declared a late scratching at 3:29pm on Veterinary advice after being found to be sore in the near/side fore leg. Trainer advised that a veterinary certificate of soundness satisfactory to the Stewards must be produced prior to that mare again starting in a race. Mr Leech subsequently advised that the mare would now be retired from racing.
As there was no book-maker on course, no deductions were applicable.

General: Stewards interviewed trainer D Leech in relation to his runner being a late acceptor into this race (5 runners), and subsequently scratched at the barriers when found to be lame in the near/side fore. Mr Leech advised that he presented the mare today fit to race but he had a concern after the mare unloaded off the float awkwardly. He advised his rider to see how the mare felt going to the barriers where it was subsequently scratched after the rider requested a veterinary examination. Whilst Stewards accepted Mr Leech’s explanation, he was advised that he must in future notify the Stewards as soon as practicable of incidents and or concerns to his runners prior to a race in which it is competing as required under AR105.
