The start time of this race was delayed due to TELLING STORIES having to be resaddled behind the barriers.
BIG JUAN (B Huppatz) – Bumped at the start.
HAFU (P Denton) – Commenced awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
KNAVESMIRE (J Todd) – Veered outwards at the start and bumped. Raced ungenerously in running and compounded mid race. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer P Cole was advised that the gelding must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards and have a veterinary clearance (including ECG results) prior to racing again.
TELLING STORIES (F Bergstrand) – Raced wide throughout.
ESKHARA (R Vigar) – Bumped heavily at the start.
SHECRAN (P Shiers) – Unsettled in the barriers prior to the start and slow into stride.
STRATEGO (D Morgan) – Lay inwards under pressure over the final 100m.
TREDICI (K Gladwin) – Commenced awkwardly. Raced keenly leaving the 900m.

Race 2: 0-64 1100m
ASSET RICH (F Bergstrand) underwent a veterinary examination at the barriers at the request of the rider and when found to be lame in the off hind leg was declared a late scratching at 3.32pm. The following deductions were applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 3.32pm:

Dual licensee C Spry was advised that he must present a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to racing again.
DELTA DOR (W Davis) – Returned with a laceration to the near fore fetlock.
MCINTYRE (P Shiers) – Impeded and bumped another runner when making ground near the 150m.
WARFACE (D Morgan) – Crowded and steadied at the 650m. Steadied outwards across heels on straightening. Impeded for clear running when making ground passing the 150m.
HATTAN MAN (R Vigar) – Raced wide throughout.
MADAME DUPORTH (P Denton) – Returned with a laceration to the near hind fetlock.
General – On inquiry jockey B Davis (CLAIRVUE DIAMOND) was reprimanded for careless riding under AR131(a) for permitting his mount to shift inwards slightly near the 650m when not fully clear resulting in WARFACE (D Morgan) being crowded and steadied.

Race 3: BM76 1000m
Stewards interviewed dual licensee C Spry in relation to his riding instructions as he had multiple runners in this event.
DARK WHIRLWIND (J Todd) – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have returned with an elevated heart rate.
1ST SO STOIC 2ND I’M TOO HOT 3RD TORCHBEARER
Race 4: 0-58 1000m
FORT NECESSITY (K Gladwin) – Commenced awkwardly.
FEATHERS OF HOPE (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly. Raced ungenerously through the middle stages.
ABLE KEN (D Morgan) – Lay outwards in running and raced wide from the 600m and down the length of the straight. When questioned regarding the performance rider reported the gelding lay outwards through the middle stages and as a result he had difficulty improving his position through this section of the race. Trainer L Walling–Denton was placed on notice that as the gelding has been previously embargoed due to its racing manners, the Stewards may take further if it continues to lay outwards in running.

Race 5: 0-70 1600m
Correct weight was delayed to allow jockey R Vigar (SKALDAK) to view the photo finish.
COONAWARRA (V Arnott) – Raced wide throughout and yielded ground from the 600m. Cast the near hind plate in running. Following the unplaced performance a post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate.
WICKED PROMISE (J Todd) – The mare returned from the race with a portion of the off fore plate detached.
EMJYE (B Huppatz) – Veered inwards at the start.
