General – From DTC meeting 13 July, 2019

Race 6 Asian United Food Service Chief Minister’s Cup – Trainer Mr G Clarke advised that the testing of blood samples taken from ZAHSPEED revealed no anomalies but the results of a lung wash indicated that the gelding had inflammation in the respiratory tract and would undergo veterinary treatment for this condition.

 

Race 1: BMNT 1100m

BROOKLYN (C Spry) – Impeded when laying inwards rounding the first turn.

ICEFLOW (R Vigar) – Commenced awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

LIVE FAST (P Shiers) – Slow to muster early speed.

STREET LIFE (J Todd) – Impeded for clear running behind heels between the 600m and the 500m.

MORAL OUTRAGE (T Treichel) – Lay inwards rounding the first turn. Following the unplaced performance a post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

1ST BROOKLYN 2ND QUANTUM DOT 3RD LIVE FAST

 

Race 2: 0-66 1100M

The start of the event was delayed several minutes due to ANSINNA requiring farrier work at the barriers.

SO STOIC (B Huppatz) – Steadied at the 650m.

GOOD TO BE GREAT (J Todd) – Raced wide throughout.

ANSINNA (C Spry) – Taken outwards on straightening to secure clear running.

LOVE CLUB (B Davis) – Bumped inwards at the 700m.

SABAI SABAI (P Denton) – Underwent a veterinary examination at the barriers and cleared to compete when found to have a minor laceration to the off fore leg.

General – On inquiry it was established that approaching the 650m SABAI SABAI (P Denton) shifted inwards quickly and when being straightened made contact with LOVE CLUB (B Davis) which in turn shifted in and away from that runner causing SO STOIC (B Huppatz) to be hampered and steadied. Jockey P Denton was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

Race 3: 0-70 Rose Bowl

COTILLION (M Aitken) – Raced wide on straightening.

TICKET TO PARIS (P Shiers) – Had a tendency to lay outwards in running.

OUR TICKETS (R Vigar) – Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout.

PUNCHEON JOURNEY (J Todd) – Bounded at the start and then reared, losing considerable ground. Trainer H Lehmann was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare in this regard.

FIRE N VICE (V Arnott) – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

NICCOROSSA (S Wiseman) – A post race veterinary examination confirmed the mare had sustained an injury to the near fore leg. Trainer T Harrower was advised that he must present a veterinary clearance for the mare prior to racing again.

Race 4: 0-62 1300m

OMINOUS WARNING (V Arnott) – Difficult to load and fractious in the barriers prior to the start.

HENRY LAD (R Vigar) – Raced wide on straightening.

CAPTAIN CALIFORNIA (M Aitken) – Raced wide throughout.

HOWDEE (B Huppatz) – A post race veterinary report was that the gelding returned with ulcerated eyes.

BELEAGUER (J Todd) – When questioned rider advised that his mount had changed stride near the 1200m and consequently shifted inwards and mistrode from heels.

General – Following this race apprentice M Aitken was examined by the Paramedics as he was suffering from dehydration. He was subsequently replaced in race 5 as the rider of HINDLEY STREET by P Shiers.

1ST HENRY LAD 2ND HOWDEE 3RD CAPTAIN CALIFORNIA

 

Race 5: CL2 1600m

ROCK AND SWING (C Spry) – Raced wide throughout. The veterinarian reported the gelding pulled up in a distressed state after the race and was monitored prior to leaving the course.

KEYSOR (B Davis) – Raced wide throughout. Following the unplaced performance a post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate.

YULONG AWESOME (R Vigar) – Race wide throughout.

LEDAYL KISS (T Treichel) – Crowded passing the 1400m. The veterinarian reported the filly returned with a laceration to the off knee.

BIG JUAN (B Huppatz) – Raced ungenerously into the 1400m turn.

1ST BORLUNG 2ND MEDAGLIA VELOCE 3RD YULONG AWESOME

 

Race 6: Bridge Toyota Cup

Stewards interviewed trainer/jockey C Spry regarding his riding instructions as his stable had multiple runners in the event.

THAT’S JUSTIFIED (C Spry) – Crowded near the 1500m when racing in restricted room. Raced keenly through the middle stages.

KIFAAH (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. Steadied outwards across heels near the 1400m.

PATRIA (K Gladwin) – Raced wide throughout.

I AM THE FOX (M Hart) – Raced keenly into the first turn and as a result was crowded near the 1500m.

1ST GRACIOUS PROSPECT 2ND DOWNHEARTED 3RD THAT’S JUSTIFIED

 

Summary

Swab samples were taken from all winners and (R6) DOWNHEARTED . Pre race samples were taken from SO STOIC, GOOD TO BE GREAT, ANSINNA, MORE CHILLI, OUR TICKETS, WILLOCHRA, WINDSOR CUP, HENRY LAD, KEYSOR, YULONG AWESOME and all runners engaged in race 6.
