General – As jockey S Wiseman became indisposed after being injured in a track work fall, Stewards approved the following riding replacements:
R1 – ZAP (W Davis), R3 – ALLSPICE (P Denton), R4 – GLOBAL ICON (B Davis)
R5 – MAKIN’ THE GRADE (W Davis), R6 – ESKHARA (W Davis),
R7 - ELECTRIC CRIMSON (W Davis)
Race 1: 0-70 1600m
KAPTAN APOLLO (B Davis) – Lay outwards through the middle stages.
FLYING TORMENTA (R Vigar) – Raced wide throughout.
ZAP (W Davis) – When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that he had ridden his mount along in the early stages and was able to position the gelding off the pace with cover. He explained that the gelding was under pressure at the 700m and in his opinion raced in a flat manner. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

NIC NAC (D Morgan) – Raced wide throughout.
GRAND TETON (P Shiers) – Bumped at the start.
RAKITIKI (W Davis) – Slow into stride and bumped at the start. Raced wide throughout.
1ST SMUGGLING 2ND FORSURE 3RD FEDERAL COURT
Race 3: 0-58 1200m
CAPTAIN CALIFORNIA (N Day) – Bumped at the start.
HURRY HOME HARRY (D Morgan) – Raced wide throughout.
LOTS OF COIN (R Vigar) – Scrambled at the start. Raced wide throughout. Cast the off fore and near hind plates in running.
PUNCHEON JOURNEY (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly. Lay outwards through the middle stages.
OUR GREAT NORTHERN (M Tyndall) – Failed to commence with the field and lost considerable ground. As the gelding has offended in a similar manner on 2 previous occasions, trainer P Cole was advised that it barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards twice prior to being permitted to race again.
MIGHTY TAX (B Huppatz) – Bounded at the start. Raced ungenerously into the first turn and bumped with another runner when in restricted room near the 700m and consequently contacted the running rail and was restrained losing ground.
1ST MULK 2ND HURRY HOME HARRY 3RD ALLSPICE
Race 4: 0-62 1100m
When the field had been loaded into the barriers YENHAAB (N Day) in gate 1 reared and got its front legs over the left barrier petition and lashed out. The barrier attendant who had been with the gelding was struck in the face and forced to clamber onto the starters’ platform for her safety and inadvertently activated the start button. The field was released but a false start was declared. After being restrained all runners returned to the barriers and each underwent a veterinary examination. Acting on veterinary advice YENHAAB was declared a late scratching at 3.52pm, followed by ICELANDIC STAR (D Morgan) and OMINOUS WARNING (M Tyndall) which were withdrawn at 3.57pm. Stewards ruled that all monies placed on these runners to be refunded and all winning bets were subject to the following deductions:
MORAL OUTRAGE 15c win 22c place
HATTAN MAN 17c place
KARMON AARON 18c place
Trainer S Brown was advised that he must present a veterinary clearance for YENHAAB and that the gelding must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.
BON AIRE (M Hart) – Slow into stride. The veterinarian reported the gelding returned with an ulcerated right eye.
GLOBAL ICON (B Davis) – Raced wide throughout.
HATTAN MAN (R Vigar) – Cast the near hind plate in running.
HOWDEE (W Davis) - The veterinarian reported the gelding returned with an ulcerated left eye.
1ST MORAL OUTRAGE 2ND HATTAN MAN 3RD KARMONAARON
Race 5: 0-76 1000m
The start time of this event was amended to 4.25pm but the race commenced several minutes late.
Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke regarding the riding instructions as his stable had multiple runners in the event.
POT BLACK (T Treichel) – Raced wide from the 700m.
NICCOCO (P Shiers) – Bumped at the start.
KILIM (P Denton) – Returned with a laceration to the near hind pastern.
IM TOO HOT (B Davis) – Bumped at the start. Lay outwards through the middle stages.
ROUGHLY (D Morgan) – Fractious prior to the start and the then bounded losing ground. Raced wide from the 700m.
CUNNING MOVES (M Hart) – Raced wide throughout.
STREET LIFE (J Todd) – Bumped and crowded at the start.
SO STOIC (B Huppatz) – Bumped at the start.
1ST STREET LIFE 2ND POT BLACK 3RD I’M TOO HOT
Race 6: Maiden 1300m
The start time of this event was amended to 5.10pm.
ESKHARA (W Davis) was declared a late scratching at 4.12pm by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice after sustaining a laceration to the back in a stable mishap.
BIG JUAN (B Huppatz) – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
BLACK HAT (P Denton) – Crowded at the start.
AURMAN ZOU (N Day) – Lay inwards in the back straight and as a result contacted with another runner on multiple occasions.
THE TICKETMAN (K Gladwin) – Raced wide throughout.
FRANULA (D Morgan) – Raced wide throughout.
RECORDING TO WIN (M Tyndall) – Commenced awkwardly. Bumped by another on multiple occasions in the back straight.
OH SO CLASSY (M Hart) – Commenced awkwardly losing ground.
1ST CAITLIN’S ANGEL 2ND BEERMINT 3RD BLACK HAT
Race 7: TAB ROANT Gold Cup 1300m
The start time of this event was amended to 5.40pm.
ZAHSPEED (B Davis) – When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that he was unable to lead as the gelding knuckled at the start and that his mount had then not been suited to the fast pace set by the leader and in his opinion the gelding further had difficulty making ground in the straight under the heavy weight impost. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
STANLEY (B Huppatz) – Raced ungenerously through the middle stages.
ROYAL REQUEST (T Treichel) – Raced wide throughout.
EMBLEY (P Denton) - Raced wide throughout.
REIBY THE RED (M Hart) - Raced keenly in the middle stages and as result was steadied back from heels at the 800m and then mistrode from heels passing the 600m.
ELECTRIC CRIMSON (S Wiseman) – Bounded at the start. Raced wide from the 600m.
