Race 2: Scope Building Maiden Plate 1200 metres
Prior to this event, jockey W Kerford requested that he forfeit his ride in this event as he felt a little distressed after riding in the first event. Stewards permitted him to stand down and as there was no other senior rider available, apprentice D Morgan replaced him on SATIN ROAD. Ambulance officers examined jockey Kerford and subsequently advised that he would be fit to resume for the remainder of his riding engagements.
ASASHIO was a late scratching at 2:25 on veterinary advice after sustaining a laceration to its near-side nostril prior to coming on course. Trainer S Westover was advised that a veterinary certificate of soundness satisfactory to the Stewards must be produced prior to that gelding again starting in a race.
As there was no book maker on course, no betting deductions were applicable.
