As dual licensee C Spry was to be overweight he was replaced as the rider of PERDU by jockey V Arnott. Stewards accepted his explanation for being unable to make the allotted weight.

TREGORIK (B Davis) - Fractious in the barriers prior to the start.
LOOKING FOR YOU (J Todd) – Bumped at the start. Resented the kickback and consequently lost ground near the 800m.
VIDARR (S Tsaikos) – Commenced awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
PERDU (V Arnott) – Bumped at the start
FLINDERS BEACH (B Huppatz) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.
ABLE KEN (J Philpot) - Fractious in the barriers prior to the start.

MOTOMIC (R Vigar) – Bumped at the start. Shifted ground outwards rounding the home turn and as a result was steadied from heels near the 300m.
LIVADAS (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.
CAITLINS ANGEL (S Wiseman) – Bumped at the start.
FIZZY ONE (S Tsaikos) – Steadied inwards at the 550m.
FINALISE (B Davis) – Bumped at the start.
PANDA’S CHOICE (B Huppatz) – Raced wide throughout.

Following this event dual licensee C Spry was examined by the Paramedics and subsequently stood down by the Stewards due to illness. The following replacements were approved:

Race 4: 0-58 1300m
Stewards interviewed trainer P Cole in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue bearing in mind his stable had multiple runners in this event.
TACITURN (B Davis) – Veered outwards at the start.
ALITAKA (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
FRANULA (J Philpot) – Cast the near fore plate in running.
AWESOME MO (V Arnott) – Bumped shortly after the start.
COUNT OF ESSEX (K Gladwin) – Trainer advised that he would give instructions for the gelding to be ridden in a more forward position than its previous runs. This information was disseminated. Raced wide throughout.
QUCIKER THAN SLICK (S Wiseman) – Bumped at the start.
MISS MOSSY MCLAREN (M Tyndall) – Bounded at the start.
1ST TACITURN 2ND AWESOME BRO 3RD BON AIRE
Race 5: WFA 1200m
HARREBS TIME (R Vigar) – Commenced awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Cast the off fore plate in running.
LAKE JACKSON (J Todd) – Slow into stride.
NEAT FEAT (K Gladwin) – When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that his mount had travelled comfortably in running but when asked for an effort approaching the home turn the gelding was under immediate pressure and yielded ground from thereon. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities and a swab sample was taken. Trainer G Clarke subsequently reported that the gelding had recovered well following the event and at this stage his intention will be not to race the gelding for a period of 3 weeks.
1ST THE CAPTAIN 2ND EL TORANADO 3RD HARREBS TIME
Race 6: 0-76 1600m
Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue bearing in mind his stable had multiple runners in this event.
MAKIN THE GRADE (K Gladwin) – Momentarily impeded when under pressure passing the 150m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer G Clarke subsequently reported that the gelding had returned with abrasions to its bumpers.
COMMISSAR (S Wiseman) – Dipped at the start. Carried inwards approaching the 150m.
HAMMERED ART (M Tyndall) – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg. Trainer C Spry was advised that he must present a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to racing again.
METALLIC CROWN (B Davis) – Raced wide throughout. Shifted inwards quickly when tested with the whip approaching the 150m.
NEEDY ROCKET (M Hart) – Commenced awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
MEAZZA (B Huppatz) – Trainer G Clarke subsequently reported that the gelding had returned with abrasions to its bumpers.
