Race 2: Maloney Kan Handicap 1200 metres
1st TRYSTOFF 2nd SHINING MANE 3rd DELIGHTFUL SPIRIT
At the request of SKY channel the start time of this event was amended to 3.07pm.
CHIMA (L Crow) – Bumped at the start. When questioned regarding the unplaced performance, rider advised that after racing on the pace her mount had failed to finish the race off as anticipated, but in her opinion as the gelding was first up today it would take benefit from the run.
ZAP (R Vigar) – Slow into stride. When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that after losing ground at the start, his mount had resented the kickback when hard ridden in the early stages. He elected to shift the gelding outwards rounding the first turn to get out of the kickback but it then failed to respond to his urgings and did not finish the race off as anticipated. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
DOOKIE EXPRESS (W Kerford) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.
CUSHIONS (W Davis) – Bumped at the start.
ROSTI ((T Gillett) – Commenced awkwardly.
DELIGHTFUL SPIRIT (S Wiseman) – Bumped at the start.
Race 3: Red Centre Technology Partners Handicap 1100 metres
1st RAZOR BEER 2nd MAIDEN GRACE 3rd RAZOR STORM
At the request of SKY channel the start time of this event was amended to 3.47pm.
Stewards interviewed trainer L Gillett in relation to the riding instructions she intended to issue bearing in mind she had multiple runners in this event.
RAZOR BEER (R Vigar) – Ridden hard early to secure a forward position.
GOLDEN DICE (C Hunter) – Rider was dislodged in the mounting enclosure and took an apparent harmless fall. After being recaptured the gelding underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to compete.
MAIDEN GRACE (J Todd) – Steadied off heels about the 900m.
General – Stewards inquired into the reason for MAIDEN GRACE (J Todd) being steadied near the 900m when being crossed. Jockey J Todd advised that his mount reacted adversely and shifted in and away from RAZOR BEER (R Vigar) and as a result became unbalanced and lost momentum. Stewards were satisfied on the evidence that the reaction of MAIDEN GRACE was the cause of this incident as RAZOR BEER was clear when going forward to lead.
Race 4: Holdfast Insurance Brokers Handicap 1100 metres
1st LUCK’S A CHANCE 2nd TWISTING TYPHOON 3rd MANDATER
MANDATER (C Hunter) – Crowded between runners near the 950m.
TWISTING TYPHOON (L Crow) – Raced greenly in the early stages and lay inwards in running. Lay inwards when placed under pressure in the straight with the rider having difficulty in fully testing her mount in the run to the finish. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be mildly lame in the off fore leg.
BETH ROSE (D Morgan) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped. When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that as his mount lost ground at the start he had been unable to race in a forward position as instructed and was obliged to race wide throughout. He added that the mare had a tendency to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
MINTRICE (R Vigar) – Raced wide from the 700m.
MAHIR (T Gillett) – Knuckled shortly after jumping. Shifted inwards when crowded near the 950m.
RIGHT HERE (S Wiseman) – Bumped by another runner when in restricted room near the 950m and as a result was steadied losing ground.
General – On inquiry it was established that near the 950m TWISTING TYPHOON (L Crow) lay inwards when racing greenly causing MAHIR (T Gillett) to be crowded which resulted in MANDATER (C Hunter) being crowded and in turn made contact with RIGHT HERE (S Wiseman) which was steadied by its rider. Stewards were satisfied that apprentice L Crow made an effort to straighten her mount and its racing manner was the main cause of this incident.
Race 5: Ladbrokes Handicap 1400 metres

AMERICAN MUSCLE (C Hunter) – Bumped at the start.
HALOGEM (W Kerford) – Slow to begin. Shifted inwards under pressure at the 100m.
