Race 1 Ladbrokes Handicap 1200 metres
AMERICAN MUSCLE (S Wiseman) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner. Inclined to lay inwards under pressure from the 100m.
WINGARD (J Todd) – Tightened for room in-between runners entering the home straight.
ROSTI (T Gillett) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
BIT OF A FLIRT (J Stanley) – Slow into stride and raced wide throughout.
CLASSROOM DESTINY (C Johnson) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
HAWACAIN (R Vigar) – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Raced wide into the home straight.
Race 2: Puma Energy Handicap 1100 metres
Stewards interviewed trainer D Leech in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue his riders bearing in mind he had multiple runners in this event.
ICEFLOW (D Morgan) – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Taken outwards by another runner from the 200m.
JACKANORY (S Wiseman) – Commenced to lay outwards under pressure from the 200m.
EINSTEIN MAGIC (J Stanley) – Commenced awkwardly momentarily unbalancing its rider.
PERESSINI (J Todd) – Slow into stride.
BEDISGUISED (R Vigar) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
MCKENNA (W Kerford) – Tightened between runners on jumping.
Race 3: Gillen Club Handicap 1100 metres
MY GIDDY AUNT (S Tsaikos) – Bumped with another runner on jumping. After a disappointing performance, a veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
REMEMBER RAZOR (T Gillett) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
SHINING MANE (D Morgan) – Inclined to lay inwards under pressure down the length of the straight.
KING KAZOU (L Crow) – Commenced awkwardly.
Race 4: Imparja Television Handicap 1000 metres
ALLSPICE (W Kerford) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
GAMORA (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly.
HE’S ALL WHITE (J Stanley) – Slow into stride bumping with another runner.
Race 5: Yeperenye Shopping Centre Handicap 1000 metres
TWISTING TYPHOON (L Crow) – Commenced a little slow into stride and inclined to lay inwards under pressure down the length of the straight.
PRINCESS LEAH (J Stanley) – Commenced awkwardly bounding out of the barriers unbalancing its rider and subsequently losing ground. After a disappointing performance, a veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
General: Correct weight for this event was delayed after Stewards reviewed the patrol footage of the start. After reviewing the footage, correct weight was declared.
Stewards reconvened an inquiry which was adjourned at the Alice Springs race meeting on the 19th January into trainer Mark Nyhan being overseas for an extended period of time, without leaving an appropriate licenced trainer in care of his horses.
Mr Nyhan pleaded guilty to a charge under NT77 in that if a trainer be absent from his stable for a period longer than 48 hours, he shall advise the Stewards of such absence. Mr Nyhan was fined the sum of $750 and advised of his right of appeal.
All riders provided urine samples for the purpose of drug analysis.
