Notice to all Darwin Trainers and their staff
Following feedback from industry participants after the first race meeting conducted on the Stable Street side of the race course on Saturday 6th October, 2018, the Stewards will be making some minor changes to improve the facilities and infrastructure to assist with the smooth operation of the race day.
From observations made on the day we would also like to highlight the following directives
- The Darwin Turf Club are not selling alcohol on the Stable Street side of the racecourse and therefore it is incumbent on individuals who choose to consume alcohol to do responsibly
- Alcohol is not permitted inside the fenced saddling enclosure or in the race day stalls and signage has been erected
- Industry participants are not permitted to consume alcohol whilst leading horses in Stable Street
- The Australian Rules of Racing permit the Stewards to conduct drug testing of “horse handlers”
- Licensed persons are not permitted to handle horses with an alcohol concentration in excess of 0.05%
- The Stewards will not hesitate to conduct drug testing of “horse handlers” if they suspect a person is under the influence of a banned substance
- All dogs must kept inside the stable blocks during race day
