From DTC meeting 14 July, 2018 – Race 4

Following the unplaced performance trainer C Spry reported that the analysis of blood samples taken from FLASH CASH indicated that the gelding may have been suffering from a virus. He advised that the gelding will now barrier trail prior to racing again.

General - Jockey F Bergstrand was found guilty of breach of AR175(p) in that during track work on the morning of 14 July, 2018 she failed to comply with a DTC track regulation during a track closure caused by a safety issue. She was subsequently fined the sum of $500.


Race 1: 0-66 1100m

TUSCARORA (V Arnott) – Raced in restricted room between runners when under pressure passing the 500m.

ALPHABETIC (J Todd) – Bounded at the start and lost ground. A post race veterinary examination confirmed the mare had sustained an injury to the off fore suspensory ligament. Trainer H Lehmann was advised that she must present a veterinary clearance for the mare prior to racing again.

Race 2: BMNT 1100m

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue as his stable had multiple runners in this event.

KILIM (P Denton) – Raced keenly into the first turn.

KISS THE CONDOR (R Oakford) – Commenced awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

INVITATIONS (F Bergstrand) – The veterinarian reported the gelding returned with an ulcerated right eye.

Race 3: 0-62 1300m

Stewards interviewed trainer N Dyer in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue as his stable had multiple runners in this event.

ZIMZALA (B Davis) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped. Following the unplaced performance rider advised that in his opinion his mount had choked down in running and as a consequence yielded ground in the straight. Trainer G Clarke advised that he would add a tongue tie to the horse for its next race start.

ON YOUR WAY (V Arnott) – Bumped at the start and again near the 1200m. Lay outwards through the middle stages.

ZAP (J Lyon) – Dwelt at the start and failed to muster early speed despite the efforts of its rider.

CHOICE APPROACH (F Bergstrand) – Carried outwards passing the 1200m.

MONTANA AIR (R Vigar) – Bumped and veered outwards at the 1200m. Raced wide throughout.

WORLD TRAVELLER (C Spry) – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

Race 4: 0-70 1300m

Stewards interviewed trainer P Cole in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue as his stable had multiple runners in this event.

WOOGIE (R Oakford) – Raced wide throughout.

BAKERS DOZEN (J Maskiell) – Steadied outwards from heels at the 650m.

DESXIRI  (B Davis) -  Tightened for room and restrained at the 650m.

MISS MOSH (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly.

SNITZEL MUSIC (V Arnott) – Raced wide throughout.

General – On inquiry jockey F Bergstrand (NICOROSSA) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) with the specifics being that she failed to make sufficient effort to prevent her mount shifting inwards when not clear near the 650m, resulting in DESXIRI (B Davis) being tightened for room and restrained and BAKERS DOZEN (J Maskiell) which was following having to be steadied outwards off heels. Jockey F Bergstrand had her license to ride in races suspended for 1 NT meeting to expire after 21 July, 2018 and in addition was fined the sum of $500.

Race 5: 0-58 1600m

INTERSHIP (J Maskiell) – Impeded and steadied across heels at the 1500m. Shifted ground outwards on straightening to improve.

WICKED RHTYM (F Bergstrand) – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

HALOGEM (J Lyon) – Lay inwards under pressure in the straight with the rider changing the whip to his left hand passing the 100m.

HATTAN MAN (B Huppatz) – Tightened for room and restrained near the 1400m.

REDWOOD GARDENS (K Cross) – Held tight passing the 200m.

ROCKMEARTIE  (P Denton) – Checked from heels and lost ground near the 1400m.

WINGED HUSSAR (W Davis) – Raced wide throughout.

General – On inquiry jockey R Oakford (WINFOLA) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) with the specifics being that near the 1400m he permitted his mount to shift inwards when not clear resulting in HATTAN MAN (B Huppatz) being tightened for room and restrained which caused ROCKMEARTIE (P Denton) which was following to be checked from heels. Jockey R Oakford had his license to ride in races suspended for 1 NT meeting to expire after 21 July, 2018 and in addition was fined the sum of $300.

Race 6: 0-76 1600m

SPARTAN EAGLE (F Bergstrand) – Impeded for clear running in the early stages of the straight.

LOTION (R Oakford) – Mistrode passing the 1400m.

RECONNECT (B Davis)  Raced wide throughout.

Summary

Swab samples were taken from all winners and QUANTAM DOT (Race 6). Pre race samples were taken from all runners in race 6.
