General: As jockey B Sweeney had been stood down by Stewards acting under AR81A(3) and jockey K Gladwin was indisposed due to injury, the following rider changes were permitted.
Race 1 EIGHTEEN BOMBERS S Tsaikos replaced K Gladwin.
Race 3 HOWNOWBROWNCOW C Johnson replaced K Gladwin, MAN WITH A PLAN S Tsaikos replaced B Sweeney.
Race 4 CUSHIONS S Tsaikos replaced K Gladwin.
Race 1 First National Framptons Handicap 1200m
BEL’S LAD (L Crow) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner. Steadied off heels at the 650m. Was found to have bled from both nostrils on returning to scale. Trainer advised of his requirements under AR53A(4)(b).
EIGHTEEN BOMBERS (K Gladwin) – Bumped with runner on jumping. Steadied when momentarily tightened for room about the 500m.
ROYCEY (W Kerford) – Raced wide throughout. After a disappointing performance, a veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
OUTPUT (J Lyon) – Raced up onto heels at the 100m and steadied.
Race 2: Red Centre Technology Partners Handicap 1100m
DESERT SPIRIT (L Crow) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner.
KENTUCKY FIREBALL (J Todd) – Raced wide throughout.
BETH ROSE (J Lyon) – Inclined to lay inwards under pressure over the final 100m.
LADY OF LEISURE (C Johnson) – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Momentarily tightened for room along the rails at the 1000m becoming unbalanced. After a disappointing performance, a veterinary examination of the mare failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
PAUSINI (D Morgan) – Commenced awkwardly.
Race 3: Holdfast Insurance Brokers 1600m
BON JET (R Vigar) – Shifted inwards at the 650m.
ANOTHER MAN’S GAIN (J Lyon) – Commenced awkwardly and inclined to over-race in the early stages of the event.
PRIMEIRO (B Huppatz) – Slow into stride.
MAN WITH A PLAN (S Tsaikos) – Steadied off heels when racing into the first turn.
BIANCONI’S SON (D Morgan) – Tightened for room at the 650m losing ground.
General: On inquiry jockey R Vigar (BON JET) was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) with the specifics being that near the 650m he permitted his mount to shift inwards when insufficiently clear resulting in BIANCONI’S SON (D Morgan) tightened for room having to be restrained and as a result lost ground. R Vigar had his license to ride in races suspended for a period of 1 NT meeting to expire after 14th July, 2018.
Race 4: Royal Flying Doctor Maiden Plate 1400 metres
Stewards interviewed trainer S Robbins in relation to the riding instructions she intended to issue bearing in mind she had multiple runners in this event.
ALKIRION (D Morgan) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
MODERNA’S ARROW (W Kerford) – Slow into stride bumping with another runner. Inclined to lay inwards under pressure over the concluding stages of the event.
WALLAMAN (J Todd) – Knuckled on jumping bumping with another runner. After a disappointing performance, a veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
ON A GOOD NOTE (J Lyon) – Bumped with another runner on jumping and raced wide throughout.
Race 5: Ladbrokes Handicap 1400 metres
DOON BUGGY (C Johnson) – Commenced awkwardly.
CHIMA (L Crow) – Commenced awkwardly.
CATCHTHERAINBOW (S Tsaikos) – Steadied off heels into the first turn and raced wide throughout.
All riders were breath tested for alcohol.
Post-race samples were taken from all winners.
