Race 3: Gem Cave Ladies Luncheon Handicap 1100 metres

Prior to this race, Stewards interviewed trainer L Lefoe in regards to the riding instructions she intended to give each rider bearing in mind she had 3 runners.

MR GOOD LOOKING (K Brooks) – Commenced a little awkwardly. Inclined to shift outwards under pressure from about the 200m.

CELESTIAL ME (B Huppatz) – Inclined to shift inwards shortly after jumping.

WILD RUN (E Finger) – Bounded in the air and kicked outwards on jumping subsequently dislodging its rider. Trainer Mr G Connor was advised that prior to that mare again starting in a race, it must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards with the emphasis being on it jumping in a more tractable fashion.

General: After being dislodged from her mount in this event, jockey Eliza Finger was taken to hospital for treatment and as a result, there was a delay whilst another ambulance was en route to the race-course. Stewards amended the start times for the final two events to commence at:-Race 4: 4:03, Race 5: 4:35. This information was disseminated to all relevant parties.

Race 5: XXXX Gold Cup Carnival Book Now Handicap 1400 metres

Prior to this race, Stewards interviewed trainer L Lefoe in regards to the riding instructions she intended to give each rider bearing in mind she had 3 runners.

NEWSWORTHY Late scratching at 3:38 after its rider E Finger became indisposed and no other rider was available on course. As there was no book maker on course, there were no betting deductions to be announced.

BEL MAIYA (M Hart) – Restricted for room between runners at the 600m.

RIBERA DEL DUERO (K Brooks) – Steadied off heels into the first turn. Steadied when momentarily tightened on the rails at the 600m.

FARAJA (C Spry) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

SWIMMER (L Crow) – Underwent a veterinary inspection after being fractious in the barriers and was cleared to race. Bumped with another runner on jumping.

General: Correct weight for this event was delayed after K Brooks rider of RIBERA DEL DUERO requested to see the head on to the start with concerns that her barrier gate failed to open in sequence with the others.

After viewing the Stewards patrol footage with trainer Mr Lefoe (Snr) in attendance, Stewards agreed that the right side gate of barrier 4 was slow to open, but were also of the view that the gelding did jump away well landing in a forward position in running. Stewards after considering the provisions of AR134A, declared RIBERA DEL DUERO a starter and correct weight was declared.

Post-race samples were taken from all winners.
