Race 1 Ladbrokes Handicap 1000 metres
HUSSARS ($6.50) – Declared a late scratching at 12.56pm by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice when the gelding was examined behind the barriers and found to be lame in the near hind leg. Trainer T Halter was advised, through her representative, that she must present a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to racing again.
Stewards ordered that all wagers placed on HUSSARS were to be refunded and the following deductions were applicable to all successful bets placed prior to 12.56pm.

THE HUMMEL (F Bergstrand) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped with another runner.
PYXIS (W Kerford) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
Race 2: Darwin Horse Float Handicap 1100 metres
SWINGITLIKESAYERS (K Brooks) – Yielded ground from the 200m before knuckling approaching the winning post and falling dislodging the rider. The Veterinarian reported that the gelding was euthanized after sustaining a fracture to the near fore fetlock. Stewards opened and adjourned an inquiry into this incident. A swab sample was taken from the gelding.
WINGARD’S MARK (B Davis) – Rolled in at the top of straight bumping with another runner on several occasions. Rider dropped his whip at the 150m.
REMEMBER RAZOR (R Vigar) – Bumped with another runner at the top of the straight and on one occasion became unbalanced.
MISS INSOMNIA (F Bergstrand) – Commenced a little awkwardly. Returned having bled from both nostrils. Trainer K Healy was advised of his requirements with the gelding under AR53A(4).
BACHELOR PAD (S Altieri) – Commenced slow into stride.
General: As a result of the fall, apprentice Kate Brooks was stabilised on course by the Paramedics and transported to Alice Springs hospital for further assessment.
The start times of the remaining races were amended to:

LADY PHROMILY (B Davis) – Raced wide throughout.
HOOK ME UP (S Altieri) – Commenced to roll out under pressure from the 150m.
Race 4: Indervon Petroleum Handicap 1200 metres
TEQUILA RED (C Spry) – Stood flat-footed and lost considerable ground. Trainer advised that a warning had been placed on the gelding and a similar occurrence may result in further action being taken.
SHOOT ‘N’ SCOOT (F Bergstrand) – Commenced awkwardly.
SALAMAAT (S Altieri) – Raced wide into the straight.
Race 5: Coca-Cola Handicap 1600 metres
AUSSIE JACK (S Altieri) – Commenced awkwardly.
EL GRECO (P Denton) – Got its head down as the start was effected and lost some ground.
Race 6: Centralian Advocate Handicap 1600 metres
ST CAJETAN (M Tyndall) – Commenced awkwardly.
RENA’S LAD (P Denton) – Rider reported that the gelding was off the bit from the 900m and felt uncomfortable throughout the event. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
STRATIGRAPHY (W Kerford) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
ITCHYZARIZ (S Altieri) – Returned having bled from one nostril. Trainer T Halter was advised, through her representative of her requirements with the gelding under AR53A(7).
REDOUTE’S EMPIRE (B Davis) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
Race 7 Red Centre Technology Partners Handicap 1600 metres
ADJUSTER (P Denton) – Commenced to yield ground from the 1100m before starting to run on strong from the 600m. Rider reported that the gelding seemed to hit a flat spot in running before improving at the 600m.
BIG MAN (B Davis) – When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that his mount was under pressure prior to straightening and made a respiratory noise following the race. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a lower respiratory condition. Trainer G Clarke reported that after returning to his stables the gelding bled from both nostrils. He was advised of his requirements with the gelding under AR53A(4). Connections subsequently advised that the gelding would now be retired.
BREWERY (F Bergstrand) – Steadied off the leaders heels into the first turn.
CHESTNUT ROAD (B Huppatz) – Commenced slow into stride.
Race 8 Central Australian Removal Handicap 1400 metres
GRAB FOR POWER (M Hart) – Raced wide throughout.
JUST TOO HARD (S Ridler) – Commenced awkwardly jumping inwards. Got its head up when being restrained at the 1200m when over-racing.
JIMMY ROYALE (C Spry) – Taken inwards by another runner on jumping.
Post-race samples were taken from all winners and SWINGITLIKESAYERS.
Pre-race sample taken from REMEMBER RAZOR, ZIZZELDO, IMPULSE BUY, POET’S CHOICE, CESTOS, SHOGUN’S REIGN and all runners in race 7.
All riders were breath-tested for alcohol.
