Race 1  Royal Flying Doctors Handicap  1200 metres

Stewards interviewed trainer L Whittle in regards to the riding instructions she intended to give each rider as her stable had multiple runners in this event.

GROOTE EYLANDT (W Kerford) – Commenced to shift in near the 250m.

ANOTHER MAN’S LOSS (C Johnson) – Commenced awkwardly shifting inwards abruptly.

PRIMEIRO (C Spry) – Tightened between runners near the 250m losing some ground.

ANOTHER MAN’S GAIN (J Lyon) – Shifted out off heels at the 250m to obtain clear running bumping with another runner.

FREDERATION (R Handcock) – Bounded at the start.

General: Stewards inquired into the reasons for PRIMEIRO (C Spry) being tightened for room near the 250m. Evidence was taken from C Spry, W Kerford (GROOTE EYLANDT) and J Lyon (ANOTHER MAN’S GAIN). It was established that near the 250m ANOTHER MAN’S GAIN had shifted out around another runner making contact with PRIMEIRO whilst GROOTE EYLANDT to its outside, simultaneously commenced to shift in. Stewards were of the view that whilst ANOTHER MAN’S GAIN contributed to the interference, W Kerford was reprimanded for careless riding under AR137(a) as Stewards were of the opinion that the shift inwards from his mount was the major contributing factor for this incident.

Race 2: Peter Kittle Motor Company Handicap  1100 metres

Stewards interviewed trainer D Leech in regards to the riding instructions he intended to give each rider as his stable had multiple runners in this event.

EL GRECO ($41) was declared a late withdrawal at 2:19pm by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice after getting down in the barriers and sustaining a knock to its poll.

As there was no on-course book-maker,  betting deductions were not applicable.

EINSTEIN MAGIC (J Lyon) – Commenced a little awkwardly.

SACAMBAYA (M Hagley) – Raced wide throughout.

PARTING SHOT (R Vigar) – Ridden hard early to secure a forward position.

 Race 3: 8HA Handicap  1100 metres

INWARD BOUND ($3.30) At the request of the rider the mare underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and subsequently was withdrawn at 2:53pm after being found to be lame in the off-side fore. Trainer G Connor was advised he must present a veterinary certificate of soundness for the mare prior to racing again.

As there was no on-course book-maker, no betting deductions were applicable.

HUSSOR (M Hagley) – Slow into stride and inclined to shift outwards over the concluding stages under pressure.

MITOCHONDRIA (J Todd) – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages and as a result was steadied from heels near the 800m getting its head up.

PAROUSIA (C Johnson) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

Race 4:  Scope Maiden Plate 1000 metres

BRAZILLIANT (W Kerford) – Slow into stride and bumped with another runner. Raced wide throughout.

FROM FIFTH (J Todd) – Slow into stride.

HAYMAN (L Crow) – After a disappointing performance, a veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. When questioned regarding the unplaced performance, rider reported that the gelding was unsettled in the barriers and that after jumping with the field, resented the kickback when racing further back than anticipated. She expressed in her opinion, as this was the gelding’s first start on this track that he should improve on that run. A post race veterinary examination revealed abrasions to his muzzle which was consistent to the gelding being unsettled in the barriers.

LUCK’S A CHANCE (R Vigar) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

CONISTON SAFARI (C Spry) – Incline to shift outwards under pressure over the final 100m
