Race 1 Ladbrokes Young Guns Sprint 1100 metres

THAT’S JUSTIFIED (C Spry) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped with runner. Inclined to lay inwards under pressure over the concluding stages. Was found to have bled from its off-side nostril. Trainer advised of his requirements under AR53A(7).

LE EITHNE (M Tyndall) – Commenced awkwardly.

RAZOR CUT (W Kerford) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

Race 2: XXXX Gold Handicap 1100 metres

Prior to this race, Stewards interviewed trainer L Gillett in regards to the riding instructions she intended to give her riders bearing in mind she had 3 runners.

PANZINI (S Altieri) – Commenced awkwardly and shifted out slightly at the 650m.

PAUSINI (K Brooks) – Raced wide throughout.

MASKA (B Huppatz) – Stood flat-footed and lost considerable ground. Trainer advised that as the filly has previously been warned for not jumping with the field, it must now barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards with the emphasis on jumping away.

HENRIQUES (M Tyndall) – Momentarily crowded for room in-between runners at the 650m.

Race 3: The Rock Bar Sprint 1000 metres

HEIRDOM (F Bergstrand) – Knuckled on jumping and bumped with runner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed small cut to its mouth.

GRANDE CASTAGNO (S Ridler) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after being fractious in the race day stalls and was subsequently passed fit to start.

G’DAY BLUE (B Huppatz) – Inclined to race ungenerously rounding the home turn laying outwards and getting its head up.

MR GOOD LOOKING (M Tyndall) – Bumped with runner on jumping and taken in slightly by another runner soon after jumping.

SURROUND (S Altieri) – Bumped with runner on jumping and raced wide throughout.

TIDAL RIP (K Brooks) – Commenced to shift in shortly after jumping. Rider reminded of her obligations to give riders on her inside the room in which they are entitled to when attempting to shift ground.

DESERT LAND (C Spry) – Commenced a little awkwardly bumping with runner. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in its off-side front with suspensory ligament damage. Trainer subsequently advised that the gelding had been humanly euthanized.

Race 4: Bundy Maiden 1400 metres

IWAUNA (K Brooks) – Held up for clear running at the top of the straight.

OLIVARES (R Vigar) – Lost a little ground racing into the first turn. Rider reported that the gelding resented the kickback.

OSCAR’S FURY (B Huppatz) – Commenced awkwardly getting its head up.

GETAQUID (M Hart) – Ridden hard in the early stages to obtain the lead.

CHARLIE BELLE (M Tyndall) – Fractious in the barriers.

MA CHITA (B Davis) – Bumped with runner on jumping. After a disappointing performance, a post race examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

PENNY FACE (S Altieri) – Tightened between runners on jumping bumping with runner several times.

TACTICAL LASS (C Spry) – Raced wide in the early stages of the event.

RED VALAZEEL (F Bergstrand) – Commenced a little awkwardly.

Race 5: Gillen Club Handicap 1400 metres

BEL’S LAD (B Huppatz) – Bumped with runner on jumping.

CHESTNUT ROAD (L Attard) – Commenced slow into stride and inclined to lay inwards under pressure over the final stages.

ORION (P Denton) – Fractious in the barriers and began awkwardly losing some ground. After a disappointing performance, a post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

STRATIGRAPHY (R Vigar) – Bumped with runner on jumping.


Race 6: Talice Security Service Open 1900 metres

MONTALTO (M Hart) – Became momentarily unbalanced when tightened by another runner along the rails close to the finish. Rider reported that the mare had travelled well in transit but failed to quicken when asked and did not finish off the race as anticipated.

MOON DEVIL (K Brooks) – Bumped with runner on jumping.

PERESSINI (P Denton) – Bumped with runner on jumping.

MORE THAN FRANK (B Davis) – Steadied off heels into the first turn.

HAMMERED ART (C Spry) – Rolled in onto runner close to the finish.

Race 7 McDonalds Young Guns Plate 1200 metres

KING’S PARDON (P Denton) – Commenced a little slow into stride and held up for clear running into the home straight.

REMBRANDT (B Huppatz) – Rider dropped his off side rein at the 200m which did not enable him to test his mount out fully until the 100m when regaining his rein.

Race 8 SDA Plumbing Handicap 1200 metres

I WROTE THE BOOK (F Bergstrand) – Dipped on jumping

LAKE JACKSON (C Spry) – Slow into stride.

RED DAZZLE (W Kerford) – After a poor performance, a veterinary examination was ordered. Whilst no lameness was found, the gelding was short in its action. Stewards acting on their own observations of the gelding en route to the barriers and the poor performance have advised the trainer that he must present a veterinary certificate of soundness prior to again starting in a trial or race.

WINGARD’S MARK (S Ridler) – Knuckled on jumping.

Post-race samples were taken from all winners.

Pre-race sample taken from MONTALTO, YOUR EXCELLENCY, WINGARD’S MARK, MOON DEVIL, THE CONCORDE, RED VALAZEEL, IWAUNA, SWINGITLIKESAYERS, PAUSINI, LAKE JACKSON.

All riders were breath-tested for alcohol.
