Race 1: 0-64 1100m

CHARIOT OF GOLD: (M Hagley) – Bumped shortly after the start. When questioned regarding her riding on the gelding, rider advised that she had ridden positively in the early stages to go forward but was unable to lead and when crossed by other runners, her mount commenced to resent the kickback through the middle stages. She acknowledged that she had erred by not riding more vigorously in the early stages of the straight when at the rear of the field as when tested inside the 200m the gelding did respond and made up ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

ALSOADAMAS: (C Spry) – Raced wide throughout.

EVIL MISS: (J Todd) – Bumped another runner shortly after the start.

Race 2: Mdn 1100m

BORLUNG: (B Davis) – Shifted inwards at the 200m when tested with the whip inconveniencing another runner. On inquiry rider was advised to show more care under similar circumstances.

CEDAR FALLS: (V Arnott) – Commenced awkwardly and struck the barriers at the start. Crowded and momentarily impeded passing the 200m.

MISS DONATELLA: (K Gladwin) – Raced wide throughout. On returning to the mounting yard trainer advised that the filly had been galloped on during the race. A post-race veterinary examination confirmed a laceration on the near fore leg.

SO IT SHALLBE: (F Bergstrand) – Fractious in the barriers.

Race 3: Benchmark 54 1000m

CRESTA CHROME: (J Todd) – On jumping away the gelding struck his head on the barriers and was slow into stride. On returning to the enclosure it was apparent the gelding had blood in the near side nostril.  A post-race veterinary examination confirmed that the blood was as a result of the incident at the start.

IRON JAKE: (B Davis) – Cast a front plate in running.

ABLE KEN: (R Vigar) – Fractious in the barriers. Raced wide throughout.

Race 4: 0-58 1300m

I AM THE FOX: (R Vigar) – Raced wide throughout

FRENCH TUSSON: (S Ridler) – Raced wide throughout

EXERT: (V Arnott) – Lay outwards across heels at the 650m.

MERVEILLE: (P Denton) – Had a tendency to lay inwards from the 650m.

Race 5: BM76 1600m

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in regards to the riding instructions he intended to issue bearing in mind his stable had multiple runners in the event.

No incidents to report.


Post-race samples were taken from all winners. Pre-race samples were taken from ALSOADAMUS, SO IT SHALLBE, MISS DONATELLA, GO TO GATE, ANABELLA and NEUSCHWANSTEIN
