RAZOR TIME (K Jennings) - Commenced awkwardly and
bumped heavily at the start. Raced wide throughout.
THE HUMMEL (F Bergstrand) - Bumped heavily at the start. The gelding shied upon return to the enclosure following the race and as a result its rider was dislodged and took an apparent harmless fall.
Race 2: Lightning Plate 1000m
BOOGIE WOOGIE MAN - Trainer D Leech reported that the gelding had been involved in a floating mishap and after undergoing a veterinary examination the gelding was declared a late scratching at 12.25pm by the order of the Stewards.
SHORT SHIFT (R Vigar) – Momentarily impeded near the 100m.
YOUR EXCELLENCY (P Shiers) – Shifted outwards when under pressure leaving the 150m.
ACTION AGAIN (B Shinn) – Raced wide throughout.PYXIS (J Lyon) – Commenced awkwardly.
Race 3: 0 - 70 Handicap 1200m
the race jockey K Jennings (4th placegetter) viewed the patrol films
in the home straight and after he decided not to proceed with an objection,
Stewards declared correct weight.
JACKANORY (S Ridler) – Bounded at the start and lost ground. Raced wide from the 650m.
TEA TREE GULLY (K Jennings) – Bounded at the start. Carried outwards by another runner from the 125m and steadied from heels near the 50m.
MORE THAN FRANK (P Denton) – Inclined to lay inwards throughout.
TIPSY ON RED (W Davis) – Raced wide from the 650m. Cast both front plates in running.
HEARTZ ABLAZE (K Cross) – Shifted outwards considerably under pressure in the straight.
General - On inquiry jockey K Cross (HEARTS ABLAZE) was found guilty on a charge of careless riding under AR137 (a) with the specifics being that leaving the 125m she permitted her mount to shift outwards under pressure and continued to do so uncorrected, resulting in TEA TREE GULLY (K Jennings) being carried outwards until near the 50m when that runner had to be steadied to avoid heels. Jockey K Cross had her license to ride in races suspended for one NT Meeting to commence midnight 7 August, 2017 and to expire midnight on the 12th August 2017.
Race 4: 0 - 58 Handicap 1100m
MULTIZONE (P Denton) – Hampered at the start.
VIA MAZZINI (L Miller) – Threw its head at the start. Lay outwards in the early and middle stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer P Gardner was advised that he must present a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to racing again.
GOING GAGA (J Todd) – Slow into stride. Steadied after being crossed by another runner at the 900m and again eased near the 700m.
SHAMPERS (B Huppatz) – Commenced awkwardly and veered out at the start. Carried inwards and impeded at the 1000m. Raced wide throughout.
CHOICE APPROACH (R Oakford) – Tightened for room and checked by its rider near the 650m.
MELANION (C Spry) – Slow into stride.
General – On inquiry jockey V Arnott (MACON COUNTY) was reprimanded for careless riding under AR137(a) for allowing her mount to shift inwards near the 1000m causing SHAMPERS (B Huppatz) to be carried inwards and impeded.At a further inquiry it was established the near the 650m VIA MAZZINI (L Miller) lay outwards despite the efforts of its rider which resulted in CHOICE APPROACH (R Oakford) being tightened for room and checked.

KIEVANN (P Denton) – Raced wide from the
GALLANT EXPRESS (S Ridler) – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
POET'S CHOICE (W Davis) - Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.EVA'S DAY (V Arnott) – Slow to begin.
Race 6: 0 - 62 Handicap 1300m
ZOCALOS (S Ridler) - Raced wide throughout.
MARBEL DUKE (J Lyon) – Carried inwards and steadied near the 1250m. Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight. Rider reported that in his opinion his mount did not appreciate the kickback. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
TREGORIK (F Bergstrand) – Commenced awkwardly.
RECONNECT (B Shinn) – Slow into stride.
LEAD HUSSON (J Noske) – Crowded and steadied near the 1250m.
MCKENNA (J Bowditch) – Slow into stride.
General – On inquiry jockey R Vigar (HEART OF RED) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) with the specifics being that near the 1250m he permitted his mount to shift inwards when not clear resulting in MARBEL DUKE (J Lyon) being carried inwards onto LEAD HUSSON (J Noske) and as a result both runners had to be steadied. Jockey R Vigar had his license to ride in races suspended for one NT Meeting to commence midnight 7 August, 2017 and to expire midnight on the 12th August 2017.

SPARTAN EAGLE (K Cross) – Commenced awkwardly.
AUSSIE JACK (R Vigar) – Raced wide on straightening.
FLYING TORMENTA (W Davis) – Raced wide from the 650m.
HAMMERED ART (C Spry) – Slow into stride.
SUPERCOACH (R Oakford) – Raced wide in the early and middle stages and yielded ground from the 600m.
Race 8: 0 - 66 Handicap 1900m
CHA CHANG (W Pike) – Following the unplaced
performance a post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame
in off-fore leg. Trainer Mr G Clarke was advised that he must present a
veterinary certificate for the gelding prior to racing again.
KIFAAH (R Oakford) – Bumped at the start.
NEW EMPIRE (R Vigar) – Crowded for room and impeded near the 650m.
GEE ONE EXPRESS (J Lyon) – Raced wide throughout.
RYE (J Bowditch) – Yielded ground from the 650m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
SENIOR COUNCIL (W Davis) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped. Raced wide throughout.
Race 9: Carlton Mid Darwin Cup 2000m
General - Stewards interviewed trainer M Hickmott in
regards to the riding instructions he intended to issue as he had multiple
runners in this event.
WEXFORD TOWN (J Noske) – Raced wide from the 1000m.
WHISTLE STOP (P Shiers) – Commenced awkwardly. The gelding was under pressure mid race and yielded ground from the 700m. Whilst a post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities, trainer D Leech was of the opinion that the gelding choked down in running. He advised that he will have further veterinary tests performed on the gelding and advise the Stewards accordingly of any results.
MOON DEVIL (P Denton) – Shifted out and contacted another runner near the 800m. Yielded ground from the 600m.
WAR STORY (F Bergstrand) – Compounded from the 900m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow recovery rate and was suffering with respiratory distress. Trainer C Cook reported that the gelding would now be sent for a spell in Victoria and in her opinion had not handled the warm climate. She was advised that the gelding must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.
UNBREAKABLE (B Shinn) – Contacted by another runner near the 800m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from synchronous diaphragmatic flutter (thumps).
Swab samples were taken from all winners and SATURDAY SORCERER& LEIDER. Pre race samples were taken from GEE ONE EXPRESS, NEW EMPIRE, SHORT SHIFT, BOOGIE WOOGIE MAN, PYXIS, TEA TREE GULLY, HEARTZ ABLAZE, TIPSY ON RED, HEY CHARLIE, EVA’S DAY, AUSSIE JACK, FOLK TALES, OVERDANE, SHOGUN’S REIGN & all runners engaged in Race 9.
Race 6 Trainer P Johnston fined $100 for the late notification of a rider for DELTA D’OR – NT129
